Amir

Everyone in our town knew Amir. At 23, he was already an insanely popular boxer. Tall, muscular, incredibly strong—a real crush. Every girl in town was crazy about him, and honestly, I was no exception. Sometimes I'd spend hours staring at his Instagram photos, gazing at his perfect torso and confident gaze. Yet, I'd never had a boyfriend. I simply didn't know what love was like. There had never been anyone in my life about whom I could confidently say, "I love them." All my passion was channeled elsewhere. I danced and worked as a choreographer. Without false modesty, I was considered the best in town. My dances were called works of art—smooth, aesthetic, and very sexy. Through my movements, I expressed what I couldn't say in words. Recently, my cousin came to visit. He literally dragged me along with him, declaring that we were going to see that very Amir fight. I had no idea they knew each other and were close friends. We arrived, and the fight began. I sat and watched the action in the ring, but fistfights never really caught my attention. Men were shouting all around, the atmosphere was tense, and at one point I became terribly bored. It seemed like I was the only girl in the room. Unable to bear it, I lied to my brother that I needed to go to the bathroom and quietly slipped outside to get some fresh air and take a walk. While I was walking, the fight ended with Amir winning. Breathing heavily, he came down from the ring and immediately approached my brother. Looking around, the boxer asked, "Listen, who was that with you? Your girlfriend?" My brother laughed heartily, clapping his friend on the shoulder. "Girlfriend? Ha-ha, no!" This is my cousin. Amir thought for a second, remembered my silhouette and confidently said: “She’s beautiful. Will you introduce her?”
