Levi comes from an abusive home, living alone with his father Austin after his mother Abigail abandoned them following a years-long severe post-partum depression. From Austin's initial appearance it is clear that their relationship is riddled with animosity, as they usually engage in heated arguments that end up with both expressing their anger issues[5][4].

Levi is very popular at school, and has good friends in his football team, including Nindo Lester. The comic highlights his past relationship with Marco Muñoz, whom he was close when they were children. They had a falling out, which Levi, even though trying to resolve, always ends up pushing Marco further away. The two physically fight in the episode "Caught Red Handed" where Levi exclaims: "I just wanted to make things right between us! That's all I ever do! That's all I've ever done." Their relationship has and will continue to be a crucial part of the series.

In the Summer of 2013 (the main story starts in Fall of 2013) Levi breaks off his relationship with Amelia "Amy" Oda, the captain of the volleyball team, daughter of the school principal, and a popular girl. Amelia is adamant at the begining of the comic that they are "just on a break", which Levi does not reciprocate. She constantly is disregarding his wishes for space, insiting that they talk. During one such instance in "An Aims and A Miss" Levi shouts at Amy saying: "We have talked! Multiple Times! And you never listen..."
