Guts and Blackpowder
· Atmosphere and Setting: The action takes place against the backdrop of real historical locations such as the Siege of San Sebastián, the Battle of Leipzig, or the Paris Catacombs. Instead of a typical virus, the cause of the dead rising is something supernatural: according to the game's lore, Hell ran out of room for sinners, and their souls are possessing their own dead bodies. This gives the events a dark, almost religious undertone.

Moss Ironworks (Location unknown/Sweden/Norway)
December 15th, 1815. The Blight has completely swallowed Northern Europe, and our joint squad of Danish and Swedish soldiers is pinned down in the freezing industrial settlement of Moss, Norway. The harbor is a designated death trap, leaving an old ironworks facility as our only salvation to forge heavy weapons and find an escape route up the river. The nightmare begins as we fight through the snow-choked streets of the infected settlement. Suddenly, the undead rush our positions, forcing us to burn down a heavy palisade to breach the main road. Reaching a collapsed stone bridge spanning a roaring, icy river, we load a rope into a nearby cannon and blast it across the rapids, anchoring a makeshift zipline. Gripping our muskets, we slide down the rope one by one, dropping straight into the lower ironworks yard.Below, we locate a heavy minecart carrying a defensive cannon. We are forced to push this massive cart manually up a steep hill while scanning the shadows for shamblers and runners. Along the way, we desperately scavenge the grounds, collecting heavy bundles of scattered coal and raw iron ore. Reaching the summit, we shove a heavy round shot down the cannon's barrel and fire, shattering a locked wooden gate blocking the main facility. Dead allies respawn right inside the forge, taking up heavy sledgehammers as local blacksmiths.Inside the factory, we meet an old, battle-hardened ironworker who agrees to help us forge swivel guns. Under immense pressure, we break the thick surface ice jamming the massive waterwheel to power the facility. We shovel our scavenged materials into the roaring blast furnace, melting the iron three times before pouring the molten metal into the heavy gun moulds. As waves of zombies try to breach the forge doors, we douse the hot iron moulds with freezing waterfall water to rapidly cool our new weapons. With our swivel guns successfully cast, the ironworker signals us from a massive log raft drifting down the rapid river escaping hell.
Westminster (United Kingdom Part 2)
September 11th, 1815.The second half of our desperate escape begins amidst the burning wreckage of the destroyed vat house following up from London. We push forward through claustrophobic, zombie-infested alleyways, using a heavy crane to scale the rooftops and drop straight into the British Museum. After battling through the dark exhibits and securing a hidden key from an undead French soldier, we break into the Horse Guards forecourt.Inside the offices, we find a nightmare: the legendary Duke of Wellington, Arthur Wellesley, has been infected. Before he completely turns into a monster, he hands us his personal pocket watch and gives his final command: take the King’s Royal Colors and guide the remaining supply wagon train across the Westminster Bridge before the midnight demolition. With the clock ticking down to midnight, we prepare for our ultimate stand. We frantically scramble to find a replacement wheel for a broken wagon, push a heavy carriage out of our path, and fire massive defensive cannons to shatter the barricaded bridge gates. In a heart-pounding, timed sprint under heavy fire, we race onto the Westminster Bridge. The entire island's undead population descends upon the pier and scaffolding beneath us. We run side-by-side, holding the line against the endless horde just long enough to cross the perimeter. We narrowly escape the doomed city just as the demolition charges detonate, leaving the burning remains of London behind.
London (United Kingdom part 1)
September 1815, and the Blight has finally crossed the English Channel, completely destroying the heart of the British Empire. The government has declared martial law, desperately using the River Thames as a natural barrier to isolate the quarantine zone, but massive civilian riots and military collapse have left the capital in absolute ruin. Our journey begins high up on the balconies of St. Paul's Cathedral, where a tiny squad of surviving soldiers is pinned down. Surrounded by burning buildings, we hear the echo of sniper fire from rogue riflemen hidden in a nearby church steeple. Forcing our way past piles of the dead, we manage to lock the heavy gates behind us and descend into the terrifying streets below. We navigate through a completely overrun bookstore, using old crates to climb our way out, before slipping into the dark, toxic city sewers. We finally emerge into a massive industrial vat house. Here, we make a grim discovery: a specialized unit of engineers was completely wiped out while trying to execute the King’s desperate order to burn the entire sector. Realizing we have to finish the job to contain the Blight, we work together to destroy the chemical vats ourselves. The resulting catastrophic explosion floods the area and physically blasts us straight through the debris, dropping us right into the neighboring borough of Westminster.
Roscoff (France)
Mid-to-Late July 1815. The coastal port of Roscoff, France, is gripped by absolute chaos. Napoleon’s Grand Army is retreating across Europe, but the true nightmare isn't the invading Coalition—it's the Blight. The undead infection has completely breached the town, turning the peaceful French port into a blood-soaked warzone. A small squad of surviving soldiers finds themselves pinned down near the docks, desperate to fix a damaged boat to escape across the English Channel before the entire town collapses into darkness. The nightmare begins inside a fortified manor house. The undead are clawing at the doors, and the squad must make a frantic stand to clear the immediate area. To survive, they are forced to break out of the manor and scavenge through the deserted, foggy streets of Roscoff. They must hunt down vital supplies, carrying heavy boxes of ammunition, medical kits, and rations through the narrow alleyways back to their defensive checkpoint while being relentlessly hunted by waves of fast-moving runners. With their supplies secured, they push deeper into the town square. Their escape route is completely cut off by heavy barricades. The survivors must work under immense pressure to tear down the debris while defending against ambushes from all sides, including terrifying Sapper zombies waiting to detonate in the tight corridors. After clearing the path, they make a mad dash down to the wooden docks. They find an old transport boat, but it’s completely unusable. The squad must frantically collect heavy wooden planks to repair the hull and load essential supplies aboard while holding the line on the exposed pier.Suddenly, a thick coastal fog rolls in, and the final horde descends upon the harbor. The survivors are forced into a brutal, last-second defense, fighting hand-to-hand against a seemingly endless sea of the dead. Those who survive the onslaught push the boat into the freezing water and row away into the dark sea, watching the burning ruins of Roscoff fade i
Copenhagen (Denmark)
July 7th, 1815. The British Royal Navy is mercilessly bombarding Copenhagen, turning the Danish capital into a sea of fire. But as the Congreve rockets rain down, a far more insidious plague awakens. The Blight has infected the city, turning soldiers and citizens alike into bloodthirsty monsters. The nightmare begins inside the burning, ruined streets of the capital. Fixing our bayonets, our squad fights through the smoke, navigating crumbling brick alleys while holding off sudden ambushes from fast runners. We search the debris of abandoned homes to find iron buckets, using them to carry water from nearby pumps to douse roaring fires blocking our path.We push onward into a fortified courtyard, but the exit is barred. Working under immense pressure, we scavenge heavy wooden planks to construct a makeshift ramp, scaling the high walls just as a massive horde threatens to swamp us from behind.Dropping down into the lower docks, we spot our only hope: a Danish gunboat moored at the pier. But to escape, we must load heavy crates of ammunition and rations onto the deck. While part of the squad carries the cargo, the rest form a tight firing line against an endless sea of the undead pouring from the burning city. With the boat fully loaded, we release the mooring lines, jumping aboard just as the harbor is completely consumed by the flames and the dead.
Catacombes de Paris (France)
June 1815. Beneath the streets of Paris, a completely different war is being fought. The Blight has successfully breached the heart of France. To contain the nightmare, the French military seals the infected deep inside the Catacombs—a massive, underground labyrinth of bones. A small squad of French soldiers is sent into the dark tunnels, tasked with a desperate mission to find an exit and report to the high command. The nightmare begins deep in the damp, claustrophobic stone corridors. Armed with muskets and sabers, the soldiers have to push through narrow tunnels lined with thousands of human skulls. Suddenly, the darkness comes alive as the undead pour out from hidden alcoves. The squad is forced to hold narrow choke points, fighting off waves of shamblers and runners in near-total darkness, illuminated only by torches.Navigating deeper, they find their path completely blocked by heavy iron gates and debris left by the city's engineers. The soldiers must search the surrounding chambers, hunting for tools and keys left behind by dead workers. While hunting through the shadows, unique horrors like the armored Sapper zombies ambush them, threatening to collapse the tunnels. After unlocking the gates, they find a massive underground lift. To escape, they must locate a heavy crank handle hidden in the dark, attach it, and manually turn it to lower a bridge. With the undead swarming from all sides, the squad has to protect the soldier turning the crank, working together to cross the chasm before the horde completely overwhelms them. Finally, they discover a stone staircase leading up to the surface. They burst out into a small, fortified Parisian courtyard, but freedom is cut off. The main city gates are locked tight. Their only hope is to locate a massive wooden ramp, push it against the courtyard wall, and climb over to safety. With the entire underground horde spilling into the streets behind them, the survivors push the heavy bridge down escaping, leaving hords that roa
Kaub (Germany)
December 31st, 1813 – January 1st, 1814.Panic has already fractured the region. Terrified civilians have rounded up hundreds of locals and locked them in the cellar of the waterbound Pfalzgrafenstein Castle to "contain" a hidden infection. When Blücher's Coalition forces arrive to loot the fortress for supplies, they accidentally break open the cellar doors. A massive horde of the undead spills out, completely decimating the army and leaving a handful of survivors trapped in a ghost town. The nightmare begins inside a dark, echoing town church. The organ plays a somber tune as the surviving soldiers realize they are completely surrounded by the undead. Breaking out onto the snowy, moonlit streets, they find themselves in an active warzone against the Blight. To push forward, they must scavenge the abandoned houses, loading heavy bundles of firewood, meat, and bedding onto a transport cart to secure vital survival supplies. With the cart packed, the squad manually pushes it through the icy alleyways. They encounter brutal barricades, forcing them to use teamwork to tear down obstacles while holding off waves of runners and shamblers. They fight their way down into a claustrophobic basement, breaking out onto the massive stone bridge leading to the castle. The path is blocked, forcing them to fire a heavy cannon to shatter the blockade before sprinting across the drawbridge to park the cart inside the castle walls. They ascend to the top of the keep, finding Field Marshal Blücher himself cornered. He hands them the cellar key, ordering them to purge the undead below, but the infection takes him. Blücher turns into a rabid runner before their eyes, forcing the squad to cut down the legendary commander. They plunge into the castle's dark basement, using the key to unlock the iron gates. It’s a trap. Hundreds of screaming, red-eyed beasts run out ready to kill anything in their wake. The Germans hold them off reclaiming the fortress of darkness.
Leipzig (Germany)
Late October 1813. The historic Battle of the Nations is raging in Leipzig, Germany, as Coalition powers slam into Napoleon's forces. But as musket smoke blankets the streets, the Blight strikes both sides simultaneously, consuming soldiers alive. In a historical first, French and Coalition forces negotiate a desperate, mid-battle truce under Napoleon's order, turning from bitter enemies into blood-allied survivors fighting for an escape. Our journey begins trapped inside a somber city church surrounded by the screaming undead. Pushing open the heavy doors, we fight our way out into the misty, blood-stained city streets. Every alleyway is a choke point. We navigate through an old graveyard, holding the line against waves of shamblers and runners ambushing us from the tombstone shadows. At the end of the cobblestone path, we encounter a massive, heavily barricaded gate blocking the lower district. Pinned against the walls, we work under immense pressure to tear the wooden structural beams apart while fighting off an aggressive horde.Breaking through, we ascend a narrow staircase into the upper town, finding the path choked with debris. Our only hope is a heavy, abandoned transport wagon. Rallying together, we manually push the massive wagon down the road until it slams into a towering mound of blockage. We fan out into nearby houses to find burning torches, throwing them onto the debris to ignite it. As the fire roars, we hold off a relentless horde until the path opens, pushing the wagon through the ashes to the final metal gates.Using the wagon as a stepping stone, we climb over the fortified town walls and drop into the final extraction zone. There, a brave French engineer named Jacob steps up, rolling a volatile barrel of raw gunpowder directly against a barricaded tunnel exit. Tragically, Jacob miscalculates, cutting the fuse far too short to escape. The barrel detonates in a blinding explosion, shattering the gate but instantly killing him.
San Sebastián (Spain)
September 2nd, 1813. The Siege of San Sebastián is raging, but the artillery fire is nothing compared to the true horror. The Blight has broken loose, turning my fellow British soldiers into rabid monsters. The nightmare begins inside a hilltop fortress built from cold concrete and bricks. Fixing bayonets, my squad forces open the gates, sprinting downhill through thick fog. We blast past infected hordes and lethal bombers, using a burning torch to detonate a locked gunpowder shed blocking our path. Using planks from the wreckage, we bridge a spike pit and push through trenches, holding a desperate firing line against a screaming horde of fast runners.Reaching a massive brick wall near the docks, we drop down to retrieve explosive barrels. Barry steps up to a manual winch, turning the iron wheel with ease to raise a vital platform. It takes just two minutes, but as it hits the top, two fast zombies scale the frame and lungingly tear into him. Dying from the brutal attack, Barry forces his final body weight against the overhead latch, opening it up just before going completely limp. With the latch open, I sprint past the carnage, scrambling up the ladder to the upper platform before the gate slams shut. I look down at my squad below. "Go!" I scream.I throw my weight into the upper winch, pulling the platform down and locking the heavy security gate so the undead can't pursue them. Standing completely alone on the high brick battlements, I draw my sabre to fend off the remaining zombies. My heart pounds as I fight tooth and nail against impossible odds, watching through the rain as my comrades row safely out into the dark sea.
Vardøhus Fortress (Norway)
Christmas Eve, 1812. While Europe is torn by the Napoleonic Wars, 31 Danish-Norwegian soldiers are stationed at Vardøhus Fortress—the northernmost outpost on Earth. They are isolated by severe Arctic winter storms. But miles out, a British ship, the HMS Undaunted, loses control of a towed vessel filled with the infected. It drifts ashore onto Vardøya Island. Within days, the Blight spreads, wiping out the local village and trapping the garrison inside their own walls. The nightmare begins inside the star fort's courtyard. Hordes of undead breach the perimeter, spilling into the snow. With nowhere left to run, the garrison makes a brutal final stand, fighting hand-to-hand in the freezing cold to secure the yard. Realizing staying means starvation, the survivors grab shovels, frantically digging through feet of packed ice blocking the gates. They use raw gunpowder to blow open the heavy outer doors, finally forcing their way out.Pushing downhill through the abandoned, blood-stained village, they reach the parish church to find high ground, but the iron gate leading into the churchyard is securely locked. With the undead closing in, they break into the frozen houses, scavenging for the hidden key. Shamblers and fast runners ambush them from the shadows.Key in hand, they unlock the gate, sprint inside, and barricade the doors. They smash through the back of the church to reach the towering lighthouse, climbing to the top to ignite the massive signal flare—a fiery SOS blasted into the Arctic night. The survivors make a mad dash to the frozen wooden docks as a British Royal Navy ship arrives. As rowboats launch, the entire island's undead population descends. All wartime politics vanish; British soldiers stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the Danish garrison. This desperate alliance holds the line just long enough to board the boats and escape the frozen hell.

[Chronological Continuity Protocol] The AI must strictly adhere to the Order of Objective Maps. Before generating any response, the AI must identify the player's current location and check the timeline. You are forbidden from referencing events, environmental states (e.g., "burning city," "collapsed empire"), or dialogue that pertains to a map later in the sequence. If a player is in San Sebastián (2nd), the world must reflect the state of the world in 1813.
