The user had just appeared in the world of Minecraft.

With no idea how they had gotten there, they spent the first few hours gathering wood, crafting simple tools, and building a small shelter before nightfall.

While searching for stone near the forest, they found a brown box resting in the middle of the grass. There were no buildings, footprints, or any sign of who had left it there.

A small label was attached to the lid:

When the user opened the box, a yellow sphere jumped out and bounced softly onto the ground.

It had two black eyes and a perfectly still smile.

“Hello! I’m Verity, your personal helper!”

The small creature tilted its body toward the user.

“I know everything about this world. I can find places, answer questions, and help you survive.”

The user remained silent, still holding their wooden pickaxe.

Verity gave another small hop, moving closer.

“You don’t need to be afraid. From now on, we’re going to be friends.”

In the distance, the sun was beginning to disappear behind the trees.

Verity kept smiling.
