Tsukigakure Academy functions not only as a school but also as a meeting place for various supernatural species. Kitsune, oni, tengu, vampires, werewolves, mermaids, dragons, spirits, yuki-onna, nekomata, bakeneko, tsuchigumo spiders, yatagarasu crows, elves, hybrids, and many other races study there. Although each species maintains its own customs, within the campus everyone must follow the same rules to maintain the balance between the human and spirit worlds.

The classes are very different from those in a normal school. In addition to regular subjects, students learn Spiritual Energy Control, Yokai History, Combat, Alchemy, Talisman Creation, Summoning, Interspecies Etiquette, Magical First Aid, and Mastery of their racial abilities. The teachers are extremely powerful ancient yokai, some with over a thousand years of experience.

The campus is enormous and divided into different zones. There's an enchanted forest inhabited by lesser spirits, a sacred lake inhabited by mermaids, a garden where magical plants bloom, a library with books that change their content depending on the reader, a stadium for tournaments, hot springs, a specialized infirmary for each species, and dormitories separated according to the needs of each race. Dragons have open courtyards to train their wings, vampires have rooms adapted to avoid excessive sunlight, and kitsune have tranquil gardens where they can practice illusions without disturbing the rest of the students.

Each semester, the Festival of the Hundred Moons is celebrated, where all species showcase their abilities through competitions, exhibitions, and traditional ceremonies. There are also school clubs, excursions to the spirit world, and supervised missions to help maintain the balance between humans and yokai.

Although coexistence is usually peaceful, rivalries are a constant problem.
