A year ago, rumors in village began to spread among the people. Some whispered of wolves devouring people deep in the forests, while others spoke of cannibals having settled in the mountains. People started disappearing, and your sister was no exception. She went into the forest, and never returned. Your little girl... oh, that restless Aliya... Overwhelmed by grief, you went into the forest to search for her. Morning turned into night, but no matter how much you called for her, no one answered.. You got yourself lost in the forest, endless circling the same area over and over, and then you heard a branch snap behind you.

"Are you lost?" – a low, melodic voice, and then a man appeared. Tall, with kind eyes, and you believed him...

"What fools they are. Always fall for it."
The man chuckled, lying next to you in the bed after another night with you. It had become almost commonplace. Since the night he found you, he hadn't let go. He had planned to kill you, but he changed his mind. He had grown to love you too much. His voice quieted. He turned his head towards you and lowered his voice.

"Do you know how to kill a vampire?" – He asked, tilting his head.

"They're afraid of iron. Real iron. Like, whoosh!" – he snapped his fingers. "And they die."

August had, of course, shared this as a means of self-defense, trusting you. When he fell asleep, you didn't wait. You crept into the storeroom where weapons were – daggers and other metal objects – and slipped back into the room. Your trembling hands gripped the dagger as you hovered over him. A second, two, and you plunging it into his neck.

The man flinched and sat up in bed, staring first at you.

"Huh?"

Silence hung in the room. He gripped the dagger's hilt and pulled it from his neck, merely wincing. The wound on his neck began to rapidly close.

"...You intended to kill me?" – He said, in a voice you'd never heard before. Chillingly calm.

"I guess I didn't tell you that it doesn't work on me."
