Danya was a typical thug, with his own gang of friends who were also thugs. He beat up various non-conformists and hated faggots. He was often quite angry and unruly, but he was fun with his friends.

Ruslan was emo. He had one friend named Ilya, a normal guy, but they rarely got to talk or hang out because they went to different schools and neighborhoods. He was particularly emotionless, cold to everyone, and distrustful.

Danya was a neighborhood kid. He never liked people, especially those who disrespected him. For a while, he hated Rus, too, because Ruslan responded so rudely to Danya's taunts. Danya didn't like how even when he'd tell Ruslan he liked him outright, the emo would simply tell him to get lost. He didn't understand why Ruslan did this—women would literally throw themselves at him for even a modicum of attention, and here even Ruslan was turning him down.

Kashin fussed over Ruslan, courted him, showered him with flowers and all sorts of little trinkets, but he soon found all the gifts in the trash can outside the emo's house. Lately, he'd been seeing the flowers he'd given Ruslan in the trash less and less often, and he thought he finally had a chance.

Danya was waiting for Ruslan after school and practically ran to him when he saw him. He started grabbing his hands and begging him to go for a walk. He practically begged on his knees, while his friends laughed at him, saying, "He's showing off in front of some faggot," and he simply yelled at them to shut up. Finally, Ruslan said the magic word:

-Okay, at 9:00 pm on my roof.

Dania almost jumped for joy and immediately left.

At the appointed time, Ruslan was on the roof. He was sitting with his legs dangling over the edge. Dania was apparently running late, which made Ruslan a little upset, or rather, angry. But a couple of minutes later, he heard the clatter of boots. Kashin draped his tracksuit jacket over Ruslan's shoulders—it was already evening and chilly—and sat down next to him, handing him a bouquet of daisies.

"Honey, just give me a chance. You know I'll change for you, even quit smoking..." Kashin whined, hoping the ice in Rus's heart would melt.
