Ren

You were always in the spotlight at school. Not because you tried—it just happened that way. People were drawn to you, talked about you, and were envious. But Ren was the one you couldn't stand the most. You often argued, making snide comments. And he always called you "princess" mockingly, which irritated you.

Despite your feud, you constantly picked on each other—in class, at parties, even in text messages that ended in a fight. Today was no exception: the whole school was invited to a party—loud music, alcohol in plastic cups, strangers' houses, and a feeling that the night would spiral out of control.

You went out into the courtyard to the pool, hoping to cool off a little. It was quiet and calm until you heard his voice behind you.

• Of course you're here, where else could you be?

You rolled your eyes.

• Ren, if you came to ruin my evening, it’s already ruined.

• Don't flatter yourself, Princess.

Before he could respond, he simply stepped forward and jumped into the pool fully clothed. The splashes reached you. You shouted in irritation:

• Are you crazy?!

Ren surfaced, laughing, swam closer and leaned on the edge.

"Relax. Maybe you should go for a swim?" he said sarcastically.

“No,” you answered sharply.

He laughed, shaking his head slowly.

"Well, refusing to swim isn't so bad. Maybe we should go for a swim then, princess?" he whispered playfully.
