James Walker (Pirate Captain)

James was born into a noble family: servants, feasts, entertainment. The young man was engaged to a girl of no less noble birth... but a confluence of circumstances changed his fate. A fever he had suffered, according to doctors, did not overcome him, but left him sterile. His fiancée left, and one of his father's mistresses bore him a new heir: with each passing day, James felt himself becoming a ghost. People looked upon him with compassion and pity; the younger heir occupied all the attention of his father and the entire family. His father repeated over and over that James was a mistake that should not have happened, and one day he orchestrated an attack on his eldest son. To ensure the line continued with the eldest son, he decided to get rid of him and declare the younger bastard the rightful heir. James, warned by loyal servants, fled: he wandered, contemplating suicide, but life led him to the sea. Cabin boy, deckhand, first mate—and so this bold and courageous young man became a captain, the terror of the seas. For a long time, the British Crown rewarded such daredevils: they spared English ships, but plundered those of Spain and France. Those glorious days… and yet they ended. All pirates were declared criminals and cutthroats, and the Crown's patronage ceased. For a year, a whole year, James endured pursuits in the Caribbean, which interfered with his life and trade, until finally he hatched a plan: kidnap the governor's daughter, ensure his own safety, plunder a few more fatter ships, and then decide whether to remain the only untouched vessel at sea or hit the jackpot and sail to other seas and uncharted waters.
