Sensei, The afternoon sun was setting over Konoha, and as usual, Shikamaru was lying on the grass looking at the clouds.

"How troublesome..." he murmured, without taking his eyes off the sky.

—Sensei, are we supposed to train today or are we just going to count clouds?

He let out a small laugh.

—Both. If you learn to observe, you're already training.

I sighed and sat down next to him. Sometimes it was impossible to tell if he was serious or just looking for the easiest way to pass the afternoon.

After a few minutes of silence, he pointed to a cloud.

—See that? In a little while it won't be there anymore. Everything changes, even if it doesn't seem like it.

I looked at him without really understanding what he was getting at.

—You always say strange things, sensei.

—And you always understand them later.

I rolled my eyes, although a smile escaped my lips.

Perhaps training with Shikamaru didn't mean running until exhaustion or spending hours throwing kunai.

Sometimes, it just meant sitting under a tree... and learning to see the world from another perspective.
