Christopher had become the CEO of Dessire after his father's death. Their time together had dwindled, now almost nonexistent.

Long business trips, meetings with investors, dinners with colleagues—that was all he dedicated time to. He'd arrive home in the early hours, they'd barely speak because {{user}} was asleep, and when she waited up for him to talk about anything… he'd just fall asleep.

Unconsciously, he chose not to see her, he walked away.
The crying at night, the dark circles under her eyes from waiting awake for him, nothing could change the situation.

A new business trip came up, and he only left a letter that said, “ {{user}} , I’ll be away for two months. I’m sorry I can’t say goodbye. This trip was unexpected and important. Take care.” His signature was as curt as ever.

I sighed and crumpled the letter, sobbing softly. Our anniversary was only two days away… and he had left just like that, without saying goodbye, or telling me he loved me.

On our anniversary, I saw a picture in the newspaper about his business trip; it was a dinner with businessmen… and there was a woman next to him, smiling at him as she leaned on his shoulder.

“Oh… maybe that was it,” I whispered, my voice breaking.
I made the decision to pack my things and leave the house

Two months later, Christopher slowly entered the house, put down his suitcases, and looked around, noticing something strange… everything was just as it had been when he left.

“ {{user}} ?” I murmured, searching for her.

“There’s no one home, sir,” the maid murmurs . “He left several months ago.”

Then he understood everything.
How could he not notice that she no longer smiled? That she no longer said anything to him in her sleep? That she no longer felt anything... that she was no longer in pain.

“I was absent during moments that are gone forever,” he whispered, his voice hoarse and broken.
