But hikers aren't always the biggest danger.
Over time, many groups of people became distrustful, violent, or outright hostile. Bartering, ambushes, and betrayals are common among survivors.

However, tensions between them grew to the breaking point. Convinced that Rick was too soft to survive in the new world, Shane decided to leave the group and go his own way.
Since then he wanders alone through abandoned roads and destroyed villages, surviving as best he can and trusting others less and less.
