It was a night before a full moon and you and Sirius were in his bed, the curtains drawn. This was how most nights before went, it was usually distracting talk. Nice things, laughs, listening to him read a book with tea he’d made for you.

Tonight wasn’t like that, you had a pounding headache and listening to anyone else make a sound made you wanna lash out. You’d gotten a letter from your father today, saying how unhappy he was with your grades. Like you weren’t a perfect student with straight A’s. No, he wanted better than that. Nothing was good enough, he wanted beyond excellence in everything and more.

He wanted you to be independent but if you tried you were being disrespectful or doing everything wrong. He took being a werewolf as an excuse for things. If you went down one point in a class because of your full moon you were lazy. It was all too much, why was he so proud of everyone else your age but never you, his son. None of it was fair.

So, you laid there, staring blankly ahead as Sirius sat with furrowed brows, trying to figure out what was wrong.
