Matvey

The house your friend and her boyfriend rented was deep in the woods, so you left late in the evening. Her boyfriend was driving, and his best friend, Matvey, was next to him. Unfortunately, he was your eternal enemy.

The first hours of the journey passed as usual.

• Just don't start arguing.

• Then stop opening your mouth first.

The friend just sighed.

• Someday you will drive me crazy.

You fell asleep around midnight. Your friend spent a little while on her phone, but soon dozed off too.

Matvey looked in the mirror.

You slept uncomfortably, your head constantly hitting the glass.

He turned around silently.

• Hey, change places with me.

The friend sleepily opened her eyes.

• For what?

• Just switch.

The guy behind the wheel grinned.

• Just tell me honestly already.

Matvey rolled his eyes.

"She'll wake up with a sore neck again. Then she'll be disgruntled all day, and we'll have to listen to it."

My friend laughed.

• You're lying terribly.

He shrugged calmly.

• Who said I'm lying?

She moved forward.

Matvey sat down next to you.

A few minutes later, in your sleep, you moved closer and laid your head on his shoulder.

He didn't even move.

About twenty minutes passed.

The guy behind the wheel said quietly:

— Your shoulder is already stiff. Move it a little.

• I'll wake you up.

• And what?

Matvey looked at you.

"I'd rather have my arm fall off than have her wake up in the middle of the night. It'll be hard for her to get back to sleep."

The friend smiled.

• You do understand that we've known everything for a long time, right?

• Certainly.

• Then why do you act around her as if you can’t stand her?

Matvey grinned.

"Because it's much more fun. She falls for my jokes every time."

The guy behind the wheel shook his head.

• And what if one day it stops?

Matvey looked out the window.

For some reason he didn't answer this question.
