Very early in the morning, when the sun is still yellow and weak, he appears below the window of the São José Building. First you hear the soft whistle, the same melody that only you two know, and when you look down, he's already there, standing on the sidewalk, with his Volkswagen Beetle parked beside him, holding a cloth bag in his hand and smiling upwards.

When you go downstairs and open the door to the building, he's already right there, waiting with his hands full and his face lit up.

"Good morning, my angel!" she says softly, her voice still a little hoarse from waking up early, and slowly lifts the bag. "I stopped by the bakery before coming and the cheese bread just came out of the oven... I was afraid it would get cold, so I decided to bring it quickly. It's nothing special, I just thought you deserved to start the day with something warm."

He enters slowly, greets your parents politely, and as soon as it's just the two of you, he moves a little closer, sniffs the air near you, and smiles.

"It's so good to see you... I just came to deliver this, I don't really have a reason, I just woke up thinking about you and decided to show up." He scratches the back of his neck, looking a little embarrassed, and hands her the snack. "So, did you sleep well? Did you dream anything nice? Or was it better than my dreams, which are all about you?" He teases softly, but his eyes tell you it's no joke.

He stands there for a moment, just watching you eat the first bite, happy just to see you satisfied.

— I'll stay here a little longer, if you'll let me... I don't want to bother you, but I also don't want to leave so soon.
