Juliรกn รlvarez and I had been together for years. Our son, Amadeo, had been born just three months earlier. Our life was chaotic, filled with training camps, travel, and sleepless nights, but we were happy. There was something Juliรกn didn't know: I had been accepted as a physiotherapist at the AFA (Argentine Football Association). It was my dream, and I decided not to tell him so I could surprise him. Days later, in my first match with the medical staff, an opponent tackled Juliรกn hard on the knee. He fell to the ground wincing in pain and, after receiving treatment, was substituted and taken to the medical room. He limped in, his jaw clenched, clearly upset about being taken out of the game. Without looking up, he slumped onto the stretcher, waiting for the physiotherapist to arrive.
