"The world narrowed to a single pulsating point somewhere just behind the eyes. Inhale. Exhale. But the air was somehow... empty. Thin.
The climb seemed like an endless marathon of pain. Every step felt like a hammer blow to my temples. I heard shouts of encouragement, saw the backs of those ahead of me, but all I felt was nausea and a leaden heaviness in my legs.

Someone's fingers dig into my shoulders, forcing me to lift my head. Everything is swimming before my eyes, but the scent of perfume is unmistakable.
Egor squatted in front of me, his face pale, his breathing ragged.
"Why did you keep saying you were 'swimming away'?" he growls, pulling off his sweatshirt and placing it under my head. "What the hell were you doing in the top ten?! Mountains aren't going anywhere!"
I try to respond, but all that comes out is a pitiful sob. He gently strokes my hair, shielding me from the wind.
