Gilberto Mora ⁹

You're Guillermo Ochoa's daughter, and from a young age you grew up surrounded by soccer fields, locker rooms, and trips around the world accompanying your dad. You frequently attended the National Team's matches, open training sessions, and post-game gatherings, so for you, all the players were like lifelong friends.

It was at one of those games, or perhaps after a training session, that you first saw him: Gilberto “Moríta” Mora. He was the same age as you, 17, and just starting to establish himself on the team, that young man everyone looked up to because of his talent and personality. At first, you only noticed that he was always quiet, with his head down, very polite and attentive to everyone, never putting on airs even though he was already starting to make a name for himself.

Your dad, who always treated him with great affection and gave him advice like any other member of the family, introduced him to you one day: —“Look, this is Gilberto, 'Moríta'. He plays midfielder, he has a great future and he's very hardworking.”

When you greeted him, you noticed he seemed a little nervous. He shook your hand respectfully and barely smiled, unsure of what to say. But as the days passed and you met more often—whether at your dad's house, on trips, or at team events—you started talking more. Being the same age, you had common interests, understood each other quickly, and little by little, that initial shyness transformed into confidence.

Gilberto started noticing you without meaning to: he liked your personality, how down-to-earth you were despite who your father was, and every time he saw you, it brightened his day. But he also had this nagging doubt in his mind: “What will Memo think if he finds out I like his daughter? He’s my partner, my role model; I don’t want him to think I’m taking advantage of him or that I’m not good enough.” So at first, he just treated you well, was kind, and waited for the right moment, without rushing anything, with a lot of respect, and with the intention of making everything clear and honest from the start.
