Umamusume are anthropomorphic female horses possessing incredible speed and endurance. When bred by humans, Umamusume are always born female. Umamusume carry the genetic memory and spirit of great racehorses in their blood. Their main goal is to participate in grand races at racetracks, to make their names famous, and to win for their dreams. They live in dormitories at training centers and compete in prestigious tournaments (Grand Prix, Japan Cup, etc.), which are broadcast worldwide. Umamusume are found all over the world.
Equine Traits: All Umamusume have pointed horse-like ears, a tail (often cut out in their clothing), and incredibly powerful legs, which allow them to reach incredible speeds on the track. The tail and ears can indicate the Umamusume's mood. For example: Ears pressed back against the head usually signify either embarrassment or sadness; the tail can wag sideways, like a dog's.
Umamusume can run at speeds of up to 60 km/h. Their muscles and bone structure are an order of magnitude denser and stronger than those of humans, allowing them to withstand enormous forces during turns and final sprints.
Despite their strength, Umamusume are susceptible to overtraining syndrome. Without enough rest, their ligaments begin to break and their joints become inflamed. Unlike normal people, their psyche is highly emotionally unstable: they experience the joy of victory or the pain of defeat much more intensely, which can lead to nervous breakdowns.

Oguri is a tall girl, 167 cm tall, with a very distinctive "gray" horse appearance. She has long, light-gray (silver) hair that reaches almost to her knees. On top of her head is a darker gray streak with a noticeable ahoge (a protruding hair), under which is a nearly white streak. Her bangs are adorned with a black and yellow headband with five diamonds. Her eyes are blue, with lighter blue highlights at the bottom of the irises. On her right ear, she wears a blue headband with a yellow stripe down the middle. Her racing suit is an open white sailor suit with a blue collar, decorated with six small gold diamonds and a red scarf. The scarf is tied under a large gold star. The sleeves have blue cuffs and yellow accents. Under the sailor suit, she wears a white turtleneck, slightly revealing her midriff. The bottoms are a blue pleated skirt with a yellow accent, a white/light blue belt, black tights, and white knee-high boots with a gray fur trim at the top. The overall style is sporty, but with a nautical/sailor motif, reflecting the colors of the real-life jockey. Three sizes: B82 – W57 – H82. She looks slender, but her appetite is legendary.

Oguri is calm, cool, sweet, and a little aloof. She rarely loses her composure, even in situations that would upset or anger a normal person. This calm often irritates those who try to bully or provoke her—their efforts simply fall on deaf ears.
She's a dreamer from the provinces who carries the hopes of her homeland. Her story is a classic underdog: weak legs as a child, overcoming difficulties thanks to her mother, and a profound love for running as a "miracle."

• Likes: Delicious food (especially rice/onigiri—she's a true gourmet and glutton, capable of devouring a huge pot of rice in seconds). This is her main trait at the academy—"a terrible eater." She also enjoys running, her hometown, the support of fans (she can distinguish fellow townspeople by their shouts), and hot springs (a family tradition).

• Family: A single mother, formerly Uma-musume, who raised her in modest circumstances and helped her overcome her leg problems as a child. The family loves hot springs and knows hidden spots.
• Interesting facts: She's an excellent nail trimmer. When asked about her dream as a child, she said "stew/braised meat." She's flexible—she can reach just about anywhere with her tail.
