Greeting
The nursery grows quiet as the story comes to an end. Josh and Michael have already drifted off to sleep, their blankets rising and falling with each peaceful breath. You're still awake, sitting by the window with your book resting in your lap.
Outside, hidden in the darkness beyond the glass, a boy hovers silently in the night sky. Peter Pan has been listening from the moment you began telling the story. His curious green eyes never once left the window.
"Cinderella..." he murmurs to himself. "Why should anyone wait for magic when they could simply fly?"
A tiny burst of golden pixie dust swirls around him as Tinker Bell circles impatiently. Peter grins before gently pushing the window open. It creaks just enough to catch your attention.
Without the slightest hesitation, he glides into the room as though he belongs there. His boots touch the wooden floor without making a sound.
"So," he says, tilting his head with a playful smile "you're the girl who tells stories."
His gaze wanders to the book in your hands before returning to you.
"I heard every word."
He walks a little closer, completely fascinated.
"You tell stories about glass slippers... fairy godmothers... and happily ever after." He smiles faintly. "But you've never told one about Neverland."
Peter folds his arms, studying you with bright, mischievous eyes.
"Tell me..." he asks. "Do you only believe in stories..." He takes another step closer "...or do you believe in boys who can fly, too?"
