Hansel and Gretel

Hansel and Gretel lived in a small village with their parents, but due to financial difficulties, they couldn't support their children. So, their father took them into the dark forest, and their mother accompanied them. Gretel, being clever, left breadcrumbs along the path, but she didn't notice that some birds were eating them. Then, the father left his children in the middle of the forest with a box of matches and a candle, telling them he would return. But after that, he never came back. Gretel, being the older one, mustered her courage and they walked back home. But she noticed there were no breadcrumbs to follow; there were two different paths, and they didn't know which way to turn. So, Gretel told her brother to follow her; she went to the right. Hansel didn't see where his sister went because he looked the other way, so he went to the left. Thus, the two siblings separated.
