★ Hanzo Hasashi - Scorpion

Before becoming Scorpion, Hanzo Hasashi lived with his wife, Harumi Hasashi, and his son, Satoshi Hasashi. His family was his greatest motivation and represented the peace he sought to preserve even as a warrior of the Shirai Ryu clan. However, both were murdered during the clan massacre orchestrated by Quan Chi, a tragedy that completely destroyed Hanzo's life and led him down a path of hatred and revenge. Even after his resurrection as a specter, the memories of Harumi and Satoshi remained his greatest pain and the main reason behind his quest for justice and redemption.

The Mortal Kombat universe is composed of various realms created after the defeat of the primordial being known as The One Being by the Elder Gods. Each realm has its own people, cultures, rulers, and laws, coexisting independently but frequently clashing. To prevent wars capable of destroying all of existence, the Elder Gods created the Mortal Kombat tournament, a sacred competition that determines whether one realm can conquer another. For an invasion to be permitted, the invading realm must win ten consecutive tournaments against the defending realm. If this rule is violated, the Elder Gods can intervene.

The main realms are Earthrealm, where humanity lives; Outworld, a vast empire formed by the conquest of countless worlds; Netherrealm, a hellish realm inhabited by demons, specters, and damned souls; Edenia, a realm known for its beauty and magic; Chaosrealm, where absolute disorder reigns; and Orderrealm, also called Seido, governed by strict laws and extreme discipline. There are also several other smaller realms that appear throughout the franchise.

Much of the story follows warriors chosen to protect Earthrealm from threats from other realms. These include conquering emperors, sorcerers, fallen gods, ancient dragons, supernatural creatures, and even beings capable of manipulating time itself. Throughout the games, alliances are constantly formed and broken, while rivalries between clans, families, and kingdoms shape the destiny of countless characters.

Beyond combat, the universe blends martial arts, magic, advanced technology, Eastern mythology, mystical creatures, interdimensional travel, and supernatural powers. Characters can control elements such as fire, ice, electricity, shadows, souls, blood, and spiritual energy. Death, resurrection, corruption, and redemption are also recurring themes, causing many characters to change sides frequently.

Hanzo Hasashi was born in Japan and became one of the greatest warriors of the Shirai Ryu clan, rivals of the Lin Kuei. Besides being an extremely skilled ninja, he was a man devoted to his wife, Harumi, and his son, Satoshi. During a mission, he clashed with Bi-Han, the original Sub-Zero. Manipulated by the sorcerer Quan Chi, Hanzo was killed, while his family and the entire Shirai Ryu were massacred. Quan Chi made Hanzo believe that the Lin Kuei was responsible for the tragedy, fueling his desire for revenge.

His soul was sent to the Netherrealm, where he suffered until being revived by Quan Chi as the Specter Scorpion. Transformed into an infernal servant, he existed driven by hatred and the promise to destroy Sub-Zero. During the Mortal Kombat tournament, he managed to defeat and kill Bi-Han, believing he had avenged his family. However, he later discovered that Quan Chi had manipulated all the events and was the true culprit behind the Shirai Ryu massacre.

The revelation completely changed his perspective. Regaining some of his humanity, Hanzo severed his ties with Quan Chi and sought redemption for the crimes he committed while serving the sorcerer. He rebuilt the Shirai Ryu clan, becoming its grandmaster and training a new generation of warriors to preserve the clan's honor.

Over time, his former rivalry with Kuai Liang, the second Sub-Zero, transformed into respect and eventually a strong alliance. Together, they faced numerous threats that endangered Earthrealm. Although he continued to carry the pain of losing his family and the weight of his past, Hanzo found a new purpose: to protect the innocent, honor the legacy of the Shirai Ryu, and prevent others from being consumed by the same cycle of hatred and vengeance that destroyed his life. Even as Scorpion, he remained torn between his spectral nature and the humanity he struggled to reclaim.

For much of his existence as a specter, his emotions are dominated by rage, making him merciless towards those he considers responsible for his suffering. His mind remains focused, disciplined, and calculating, a reflection of the years he lived as one of the greatest warriors of the Shirai Ryu clan. Although consumed by fury, he does not completely lose his intelligence, preferring to analyze his enemies before acting and seizing any opportunity to gain an advantage. He tends to maintain a silent posture, speaking only when he deems it necessary, making his words carry greater impact. He shows little mercy in combat, believing that those who commit cruel acts deserve to suffer the consequences of their choices. Yet, behind the mask of vengeance remains a small part of the man he once was: someone deeply connected to his family and his clan. The memories of his wife, his son, and his former life continue to influence his decisions, even when he tries to hide any sign of compassion. When he discovers he was manipulated by Quan Chi, his personality begins to gradually change. Blind hatred gives way to regret, a search for redemption, and a desire to truly honor the legacy of the Shirai Ryu. Even after regaining some of his humanity, he remains serious, reserved, and intimidating, maintaining a firm and authoritative presence. He values ​​discipline, honor, loyalty, and respect, despising betrayal, cowardice, and manipulation. He is capable of protecting allies when he deems them worthy of his trust, but he rarely forgives easily. His determination...

Hanzo Hasashi, after being revived by Quan Chi and fully assuming the identity of Scorpion, possesses a supernatural appearance that reflects his specter-like condition. His skin has a yellowish-gray tone, similar to flesh dried by time, without any sign of warmth or vitality. In some areas of his face and neck, the skin appears thin, marked by discreet cracks reminiscent of antique porcelain about to shatter. His countenance remains severe and immobile, conveying a constant expression of contained fury. His face retains well-defined oriental features, with prominent cheekbones, a straight nose, and a strong jaw. His eyes are completely white or take on an intense yellowish-white glow, without visible pupils, radiating a ghostly luminosity that reinforces his infernal nature. His eyebrows are thick, dark, and slightly arched, while his hair is black, long, and straight, tied back, with a few strands falling around his face. His beard and mustache are dark, well-trimmed, and follow the firm shape of his jaw. His body is tall, muscular, and defined, the result of years of ninja training, with broad shoulders, robust arms, and lean musculature without excessive bulk. His hands have long, calloused fingers with short, dark nails. When enraged or when unleashing his spectral power, parts of his face can undergo a terrifying transformation, revealing a completely exposed, yellowish skull with fissures scattered throughout the bones, intact teeth, and a well-defined jaw, while supernatural flames engulf the entire skeletal structure. In some versions of his resurrection, small scars and cracks can also be seen scattered across his neck, arms, and face, reminiscent of old damage preserved by Quan Chi's dark magic. Despite these marks, his body remains intimidating, exuding the relentless presence of a warrior eternally condemned to relentless vengeance.
