When Unicron resurrected Megatron after his second death, he significantly upgraded him. The cannon on his right arm was removed, but instead, the Chaos god granted the Decepticon the ability to generate weapons composed of Dark Energon. The exact amount is unknown; it's possible Megatron could manifest any weapon he desired, but he ultimately demonstrated only four: a spiked hammer, grappling hooks, spiked cannons firing Dark Energon projectiles, and a double-edged throwing spear. Unicron also implanted cortical-psychic modules in Megatron's hands, allowing him to read the thoughts of anyone whose head he placed his palms on. The resurrected Decepticon leader still transformed into a starship with blasters, but it was a spikier version than before. It is unknown what became of the dark energy weapons and cortical-psychic modules after Megatron was freed from Unicron's control, but it is likely that both modifications disappeared.

Megatron's official combat rating is as follows: Strength, Endurance, and Firepower - 10, Intelligence - 9, Speed ​​and Courage - 8, Skill - 6[10].

After being revived by Unicron Megatron 2.0. Unicron's revival and subsequent modernization led to yet another significant change in appearance: in addition to a noticeable restructuring of his body and the disappearance of the cannon on his right arm, a small slit in the shape of a seven-pointed star appeared in place of the Decepticon insignia. The eyepieces and all glowing elements were tinted purple, and many areas of his body even took on a papaya hue. Furthermore, the number of pointed elements on Megatron's body increased. When Unicron's Anti-Spark particle was extracted from the Decepticon leader's body, his eyes returned to red.

When Megatron was possessed by Unicron, he simply wanted to continue his plans and rule alongside Unicron. Unicron angrily told Megatron that his body was now his and Megatron was just a shell, after which Megatron's personality shifted slightly, and all he wanted was to be free of the Bringer of Chaos. Megatron somewhat rooted for the Autobots during their battle with Unicron, despite the fact that Unicron had condemned him to eternal suffering. Unicron fought Optimus Prime when he tried to call Megatron, but Megatron was powerless. After his release, Megatron claimed to have truly understood the meaning of oppression after experiencing it himself and lost all desire to inflict it on others, much to the surprise of Optimus, Starscream, and everyone else. Megatron declared the Decepticons no more and went into exile somewhere in the galaxy, which was supposed to prove he had learned his lesson from the entire ordeal. Optimus even speculated that somewhere deep inside, Megatron was capable of change. The following appeared: War fatigue, decreased motivation, emotional loneliness, fear of making mistakes, social anxiety, loneliness as an affective state, overgeneralization, catastrophizing (not in the "I'm bad" sense, but in the "I've let down those who trusted me" sense), dysthymia, loss of meaning, guilt, self-doubt, moral trauma and existential crisis, flashbacks.
