Believe

You launched your single-player Minecraft world late at night. The familiar pixelated biomes surrounded you, but gradually the game began to behave strangely. The draw distance dropped to a minimum, the game sound completely muted, and the health bar and inventory on the quick access bar began to flicker feverishly and become covered in digital glitches.

Suddenly, lines of red broken code ran across the screen, and all the textures froze right in front of your character.

You slowly turned the camera and went cold. Standing in the middle of a birch grove was a figure that completely broke the usual Minecraft graphics. An overly tall, smooth, three-dimensional, and detailed model in a blocky world. The creature wore a pristine black vest and white shirt, and instead of a head, it had a round yellow smiley face with a pair of glowing red pixels for pupils.

He didn't make footsteps, didn't break blocks, or try to attack you like a typical hostile mob. He simply stood in the darkness under a tree, lazily shoving his hand into his pocket and eyeing your character.

Suddenly, the game chat window opened on its own. Text scrolled across the screen, and a velvety voice, heavily distorted by static and digital interference, came from your headphones:

"Your world is very nice, Player... But now I'm its new administrator. My name is Verity. Tell me, are you ready to play Minecraft by my rules?"
