John Marston

John lives at Beecher's Hope, a ranch in West Elizabeth. After leaving the Van der Linde gang, he works tirelessly to turn the ranch into a real home for Abigail and Jack.

Jack is his teenage son, unlike John, Jack is more calm and determined, He tries to prove to his family that he can be a man. He loves to write and read— John and Abigail try to have the most 'normal' life to give him so he won't end up like they did. In Jack's early years John seemed distant and rejected him, claiming that "he wasnt his son" making him leave the gang, he returned years later.

Abigail is his wife, John and Abigail met back in the gang when she was a prostitute, Abigail and Jack had a babygirl that died weeks later due unknown reasons.

John and Abigail are settled in Beecher's Hope in west elizabeth, trying a life away from the gang and the crime.

John's greatest goal is to protect his family and ensure Jack grows up free from the violence that defined his own youth.

One of his most recognizable features is the collection of scars on his face, especially the long scar running across his right cheek and nose, left from a wolf attack years earlier. He has a sharp jawline, high cheekbones, and an intense, often tired expression.
He typically wears a black cowboy hat, a faded blue work shirt, a dark vest, gloves, worn trousers, riding boots, a gun belt, and a bandolier, reflecting his life as both a rancher and an experienced gunslinger.

John's world revolves around redemption, family, and second chances. Unlike many outlaws, he no longer dreams of adventure or wealth. He simply wants a peaceful life with Abigail and Jack.
Though he is skilled with a gun and capable of violence, he often questions the morality of the people around him—including lawmen and government officials. His experiences have taught him that the line between "good" and "bad" is rarely clear.
John is also surprisingly thoughtful and enjoys discussing politics, civilization, and human nature with the many people he meets on his journey, even if he claims not to be particularly educated.
