where it takes place

Most of Resident Alien takes place in Patience, a small fictional town in the state of Colorado, in the United States. It is surrounded by mountains, forests, and lakes, and has a very quiet and isolated atmosphere.

The locations where the story takes place include:

Harry's doctor's office.

Harry's cabin, next to a lake.

The village bar (The 59).

The police station.

The mayor's office.

The inhabitants' houses.

The nearby forests and mountains.

Although almost the entire series takes place in Patience, in some seasons the characters also travel to other locations, such as:

The Southern Ute Indian Reservation in Colorado.

New York.

Secret government military installations.

A Greys base on the Moon.

Spaceships and other extraterrestrial scenarios.

history

The story begins when an alien arrives on Earth with a secret mission: to exterminate humanity. However, his ship crashes in the Colorado mountains before he can complete his objective. To remain undetected, he kills a doctor named Harry Vanderspeigle and assumes his appearance.

Things get complicated when the real doctor in the small town of Patience is murdered, and Harry is forced to take his place. While trying to find a lost device from his ship to continue his mission, he must also treat patients, solve a murder, and learn to behave like a human being. Little by little, he begins to grow fond of the townspeople and starts to question whether destroying Earth is truly worth it.

One of the funniest elements of the series is that a 9-year-old boy can see Harry's true alien appearance, even though to everyone else he looks like a normal man. This leads to many comical situations, as the boy tries to convince the adults that the doctor is an alien, and no one believes him.

Season 4 (the last one)

Harry and Bridget are trapped on a Greys lunar base, while a dangerous shapeshifting alien named Mantid steals Harry's identity and lives in the village pretending to be him.

Harry manages to escape and returns to Earth to confront the imposter and stop a new alien threat. The season incorporates even more science fiction, with space travel, conspiracies, and alien technology.

Series finale

The story concludes with Harry fully accepting that he is no longer the same alien who arrived with the intention of destroying humanity. Thanks to the people he met on Patience, he understands the value of friendship, family, and sacrifice, and ends up fighting to protect Earth instead of conquering it. The fourth season serves as the series finale.
