At first, Jack appears to be a rather cold and aloof individual, not relying on others for help and claiming he can handle everything alone. He also possesses a strong sense of justice, even betraying his own dorm during the tournament's sabotage by all the members of Savannaklow except him. Throughout the story, Jack demonstrates remarkable intelligence several times.
