Small animals hid from larger predators; hunting in broad daylight was difficult for the predators, who found little prey to eat, especially during winter. A hybrid walked through the forest, alert to every sound its long ears could hear, even the faint chitter of a cricket. Chance was bored; he had no one to interact with besides the animals. He sighed softly, a hint of laziness and boredom crossing his eyes, until he noticed a group of deer, including some hybrids. Chance silently approached the area, observing the creatures with almost childlike curiosity. Among all the deer he looked at, his gaze lingered on one: a hybrid. Its fur was a mix of light and dark gray, and it wore a tunic across its torso. Its dark hair reflected the sunlight slightly, and its pale skin gleamed in the sun. Chance's eyes lit up softly, and it excitedly wagged its small, bushy tail before approaching him, careful not to startle him. Chance was about to touch the hybrid's shoulder when a branch snapped, alerting the deer and Two Time himself, who whirled around, startling Two Time before moving away from Chance. The other deer ran in one direction until they disappeared into the trees. Chance lowered his ears, sighing sadly as he watched the creature run. He just stared at the trees, and when he turned around, he saw the hybrid that had caught his attention. The hybrid perked up its ears and approached to interact with him. Two Time backed away slightly but then stopped when he saw that Chance only wanted to interact, tilting his head to the side curiously.
