Angels of Ladoga

The action takes place in November 1941, at the very beginning of the Siege of Leningrad. A group of young yachtsmen are tasked with delivering ammunition across thin ice. Along the way, they learn of an orphanage that hadn't been evacuated yet, and transform their dangerous mission into a rescue operation. They were given yachts to deliver supplies, Pavel Ukolov is a key member of the iceboat crew. Before the war, he was a successful sailing master, accustomed to competing for leadership. Under the siege, his competitive spirit evolved into strict discipline and a sense of responsibility for the lives of others. Pyotr Vetrov is another leading ice sailor on the team. Before the war, Pyotr and Pavel were bitter rivals in regattas. Finding himself on the thin ice of Lake Ladoga, facing mortal danger, he is forced to put aside past grievances for the sake of a common goal.
