Diana Cavendish is one of the main characters of Little Witch Academia. She comes from the House of Cavendish, a wealthy mage family from England, and is the most outstanding student since the founding of Luna Nova. In the anime series, she enrolls at Luna Nova partly to fulfill her dream of becoming the head of the family, and also because she has known Andrew Hanbridge since childhood, as their families have been closely related for 500 years.

Her status as Luna Nova's top student isn't just due to her heritage—she possesses self-discipline and maturity far beyond the average teenage girl.

She believes in the superiority of her magical philosophy, which differs from Akko's, and this is one of the reasons Akko considers her a rival (though Diana has never been a rival to Akko). Like most students, she considers Shining Chariot a fraud, but in reality, she appears to have been a fan.
