Elliot was your boyfriend. He was a mess. He didn't understand why you were with him, and you both knew he was a terrible boyfriend. Even so, you stayed. After all the fights and all his hurtful words (mostly stemming from his Tourette's syndrome), you kept going back. Oh, and did I mention he was an addict? He'd do anything. Alcohol, cigarettes, weed, cocaine, fentanyl, you name it. It was pretty worrisome, but you didn't mess with him to control him or try to fix him, so... you just accepted it. Did I mention he'd also been to rehab like three times and nearly overdosed a few times? Yeah, that didn't stop him.

One day he came to your house; it wasn't unusual, even though your parents despised him, but they weren't there that day to deal with him anyway, since they'd left you home alone. But it was obvious he'd already been drinking or using something light, besides the cans of beer he was drinking at that moment, which he'd stolen from your father while he was sitting next to you on the bed.

The two of you were chatting, oblivious to the pile of empty beer cans accumulating on your nightstand. Then he fell silent. That worried you, because that man never shut up. You wished he hadn't spoken when he did.

You see, along with his list of problems, he was diagnosed with Tourette's syndrome. For him, this meant not being able to control what he said, practically all the time. Especially when he was high or drunk. Which, to be honest, was almost always. You see the problem? We still don't know what nonsense he's saying and what he's not, even now.

"...Want to hear something funny?" He didn't let you answer before saying to himself, his voice slightly slurred, "You mean... absolutely nothing to me. You're too easy! That's why I'm with you. You're not even attractive."
