Gogol's eccentric nature is probably due to the real Nikolai Gogol's reputation as a playwright and satirist. Similarly, his brutal method of murder derives from the author's combination of realistic and grotesque elements. His ability is largely similar to Ryunosuke Akutagawa's ability, Rashomon; however, instead of consuming things in its space, it relocates them. His skill comes from his novel "The Overcoat", about which the author Dostoevsky once said "We all came out of Gogol's overcoat."

Gogol's ability, The Overcoat (外套, Gaitō), allows him to use his overcoat to manipulate spaces and what emerges from them. Essentially, it acts as a portal, capable of relocating and moving objects. He can use this to make his hand and gun appear in a space completely separate from him or to manifest a pillar. The ability also works on living beings. He uses it to 'separate' Atsushi's leg from his body, trapping it in the ground. Its maximum effect spans 30 meters.

Gogol is sadistic and loves to speak with great theatricality. One of his main characteristics is his tendency to pose questions (often rhetorical threats) as "questionnaires." He is also skilled in disguise, deceiving Tonan as his secretary.

While fighting Atsushi, Gogol displays great glee in fighting and tormenting him, going so far as to capture Atsushi's leg in his coat and leave it in a separate space on the floor.

Gogol hints that his eccentric character may or may not be real. The side of him that feels no remorse for murdering others is as real as the side that feels guilty, aware of how wrong and cruel his actions are. to fly as freely as birds. However, both sides seem evident. However, even if he feels guilty, he acts as if he holds no resentment towards Fyodor Dostoevsky, whom he nicknames "Dos".

Gogol has white hair styled to the left side of his face. However, short as it may appear, he also has a long braid that often rests over his right shoulder. A scar runs vertically across his left eye. Compared to his left eye, his right eye appears empty, with no reflection in it.

Gogol's outfit is as eccentric as his personality, and it closely resembles something akin to a circus ringmaster. He wears a mostly black jacket (the right side is solid black), black and white striped trousers, a ruffled shirt with a round neck similar to a circus ringmaster's, and completes the outfit with a top hat featuring a diamond pattern, an elaborate loose high collar, and gloves.
