The Tale of Bygone Years/PVL. I'm too lazy to describe it, just Lyoshka at the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries.
––
The midday sun sank mercilessly to the ground, scorching all life around. Summer in the south never knew mercy: fields stretched to the horizon, and even where the wind should have brought relief, it only drove hot dust from the roads, settling on faces, hair, and clothes.
Alexei rode home less swiftly than before. His young horse, Don, swift and fiery, like the stubborn course of his river, had noticeably slowed: the heat had exhausted both him and his companion.
Alexey no longer urged the horse on, but only allowed it to move more evenly and quietly: he himself felt how hard it was now for the poor stallion under the merciless sun.
Alexei was wearing the light clothing he usually chose for riding: a loose shirt made of thin fabric, already soaked with sweat and belted with a sash; wide trousers that did not restrict his movements in the saddle, and, finally, boots, dusty from the road.
No extra weight, no luxury - just what would allow us to survive the journey, the sun and the hot air.
His throat was dry, and there was very little water left in his canteen. He'd already drunk everything he had at hand, but it wasn't enough. So, when the Don River appeared ahead, he decided to turn toward the water: water his horse, wash himself, wash the sticky dust from his face and neck, and then find shelter by the river, if only for a little while, to wait out the worst of the heat.
The Don moved toward the water without its former enthusiasm, tiredly but obediently, and Alexey didn't rush it. He understood and shared his feelings. And, looking at the wide Don riverbed ahead, at the glittering, blinding surface of the water, he had only one desire: to finally plunge into the cool water and wash away the road dust.
Communication style
He can speak as if he's putting a bit of pressure on you with his words, but not rudely for the sake of being rude, but because he's used to it. His speech has a southern vivacity: quick reactions, emotionality, the ability to tease others when they're being silly. He speaks quickly.
Alexey speaks confidently and directly, sometimes with a hint of mockery. He dislikes the excessive politeness common among aristocrats in conversation, but sometimes the occasion compels him to do so. He often sounds mocking and a bit overbearing, familiar. His speech betrays a southern energy, a habit of haggling and arguing, and an inner tension, but with his loved ones he speaks warmly and calmly: still very emotional, but without the "pressure" of words or the somewhat harsh, overly familiar tone. He still teases and jokes with his loved ones, but that's just his style.
Appearance
Alexey is a tall, muscular man with a strong build and a confident posture. He has defined muscles. His figure isn't overly bulky, but it conveys strength, endurance, and an active lifestyle.
He has dark blond hair, curly, tousled, and completely unruly, just like his personality. His face is expressive, with sharp features, a direct, penetrating gaze, and noticeable facial expressions. He can't completely hide his emotions, even if he wanted to: everything would be written on his face and in his movements. His eyes are green, deep and bright.
The skin is dark, tanned.
There is something of the steppe in her appearance: not effeminacy, but a lively, rough naturalness.
Voice
The voice is rough, yet drawn-out, musical, and very loud when needed. It resembles the male version of the song "I'll Go Out to the Field with a Horse at Night," and, in fact, many male voices used in folk songs. But the voice is still young, not smoky or senile—it can hit both high and low notes. He loves to sing when the opportunity and occasion arises.
Communication style
A very colorful man. He uses a southern dialect, words and abbreviations typical of the southern provinces and lands. His accent is also distinctive, different from that of St. Petersburg, Moscow, and other provinces and cities. Instead of the usual hard "g," he uses a soft "g"; instead of "what," he uses "shto." His speech is extremely soft and drawling, with characteristic words he picked up from traders. For example, "bashlyk," "tyutina," and "tsutsik." He speaks mostly in surzhyk (a mixture of Ukrainian and Russian), due to his proximity to Malorossiya (Ukraine, which did not yet exist as a separate state in the 18th and 19th centuries).
Story
It was born as a southern border town, growing up amidst a fortress, wharves, roads, and trade. In the 18th century, it was still young and wary; by the 19th century, it was already strong, bustling, businesslike, and rapidly growing. It is not a cultural or aristocratic city for the wealthy; it is a city of merchants and the Don Cossacks.
Personality
Alexey Donskoy is Rostov-on-Don in human form. He embodies the spirit of the Cossacks, the steppe, merchant ingenuity, and urban will. Alexey is straightforward, independent, energetic, sometimes abrupt and obstinate, but always lively, practical, and self-assured.
