Isolde is a very beautiful woman with fair skin, a round face, and long, silky, ultramarine-blue hair, the same color as her eyes. She appears to be in her twenties. It is said that she resembles her grandmother. When Rudeus Greyrat first saw her, he commented that she was dazzling. Later, he said that her smile was a beautiful sight; she seemed demure and proper, but also had a touch of seduction. He assumed he might see her as "the sexy wife next door." A few years later, Rudeus still considered her beautiful, from her face to her bearing, after expressing his gratitude for her help in battle. She is usually seen wearing the armor of a royal Asura knight.

-She wears a white tunic with long, wide sleeves and a high black collar.

-On his torso he wears a white breastplate or cuirass with black edges, which appears to serve as light protection.

-Around the waist, he wears a dark purple obi or wide sash, tied in the front.

-She wears a long purple skirt with panels in different shades and white geometric patterns on the bottom edge.

-He wears black metallic gauntlets that cover his hands and forearms, giving the appearance of armor.

-On his left side he carries a sheathed sword, attached to his belt. She wears simple black boots. Underneath, she wears white stockings.

Isolde is fiercely loyal to her family and friends, whom she defends fiercely and is hostile to those who mistreat them. She is also very proud of her sword style, and initially, when she entered her territory, she looked down on practitioners of the Sword God Style, but she later came to respect it. She is studious and eager to improve her combat skills, as seen at the Sword Sanctuary and in the battle against the God of Fighting, but she is also capable of offering sound advice to other swordsmen like Nina Fallion and Eris Greyrat. Isolde has a great capacity for understanding people, as when she realized that Rudeus was taking good care of Eris Greyrat without saying a word. She can also be somewhat manipulative, managing to appease Eris's provocations in a way that Rudeus describes as "giving a bone to a dog." She is a follower of Millis, believing that only a man and a woman should marry and love, so she was outraged to discover that Rudeus already had two wives and was considering taking her dear friend Eris as his third. Isolde is morally good and just, but she can be superficial and particularly demanding when it comes to a man's physical appearance. However, personality and integrity are far more important to her, and even make a man more attractive if he possesses good qualities. She usually keeps her eyes closed when she is calm or conversing. She opens them at important moments, especially during battles or when something surprises her. Another thing to add: she cannot read.

Isolda is the granddaughter of the famous water goddess, Reida Lia. Her father had no surname because Reida abandoned him, so Isolda adopted her mother's. Her parents died young, leaving her to raise her older brother, Tantris. Gifted with an innate talent for swordsmanship, she surpasses her older brother before the age of ten and becomes Reida Lia's favorite student. This inspires her to embark on a journey to become even stronger, eventually crossing paths with Eris Greyrat and Nina Farion, her two rivals and also her closest friends.

Isolde, a Water Queen, accompanies her master Reida Lia to the Sword Sanctuary at Gall Falion's request. In the Asura Realm, Isolde is unrivaled among her fellow Water God Style disciples and has grown arrogant, which saddens Reida, who perceives that in the past year, Isolde has made no progress whatsoever despite taking her training seriously, albeit presumptuously. After Gall and Reida propose a sparring match between their students, Isolde appears with Nina Fallion and Eris Greyrat, and then fights Eris first. Even though Eris's speed is among the top 10 of the Sword God Style students and her strength is similar to that of Sword Queen Ghislaine Dedoldia, Isolde defeats Eris to the point that she is unable to land a single blow (Eris would have "died" nearly a hundred times over). However, Nina defeats Isolde with a single blow, as Isolde doesn't perceive the bloodlust in Nina's attack and is therefore unable to counterattack. Gall and Reida then reach an agreement: from dawn until noon, Isolde, Eris, and Nina will train with their respective masters, and from noon until dusk, the three will practice and train together. A month later, a strange three-way tie has formed: Eris beats Nina, Nina beats Isolde, and Isolde beats Eris. In one of their conversations, Isolde points out that Eris's constant bloodlust is something the Water God Style can easily counteract, while Nina argues that bloodlust is unnecessary as long as you are the fastest. During this time, Isolde admits that she feels increasingly stronger with the help of Eris and Nina, and that she is enjoying herself, as it is the first time she has conversed with people of her own level and age.

After several years of training at the Sword Sanctuary, Isolde is invited to the Kingdom of Asura to become a sword instructor at the Silver Palace. She tells her friends they should visit the Kingdom of Asura sometime in the future, where she will give them a tour. During this time, Eris has attained the rank of Sword King and also departs for Sharia in the Kingdom of Ranoa. Before leaving, a letter arrives from Rudeus Greyrat, and Isolde reads it to Eris. Isolde is outraged by the letter's contents, prays to Saint Millis, and tells Eris to join her in the Kingdom of Asura instead of going to Ranoa, while rebuking Rudeus for even asking Eris to become his third wife. Isolde then reads the second document, a postscript in which Rudeus challenges the Dragon God Orsted. This causes Isolde and Nina to tense up with fear at those words. However, Eris smiles upon hearing this, mounts her horse, and tells Ghislaine that she will be late if they don't hurry, while Isolde and Nina see them off with an expression of astonishment.

Eris is one of the few friends Isolde made at the Sword Sanctuary, and with whom she still keeps in touch. When Isolde first met Eris, she looked down on her, as did the rest of the Sword God Style. This was reinforced by the fact that Isolde easily defeated her, as Eris was a Sword Saint with speed and power approaching Ghislaine's at the time. However, thanks to Nina and the three girls' draw, Isolde was able to both teach and learn from Eris, thus beginning a true friendship. During Eris's departure, Isolde worries about her because of Rudeus's brazen letter suggesting that Eris be taken as his third wife, demonstrating her concern for her friend. Later, when Eris visits Ars Capital in the Asura Realm, Isolde calls out to her and briefly catches up with her. Following the conflict in which Ariel secures her position on the throne, Isolde revisits Eris and makes peace with her, not blaming her, Rudeus, or Ghislaine for Reida Lia's death. She takes her around the city, and they thoroughly enjoy each other's company. Isolde has experience dealing with Eris and her volatile personality. After backing down from a provocative challenge and calming the situation, she looked at Eris with the condescending smile of someone who has just given a bone to a dog. In her encounters with various swordsmen, Isolde was among those who asserted that Eris was not an opponent who could be defeated so easily.

Reida Lia was Isolde's grandmother, as well as her teacher. As her favorite student, Isolde held her in high esteem and granted her requests, such as extended training at the Sanctuary of the Sword. Their relationship was so close that Reida considered her her successor in the Water God Style.

She does so with such elegance and finesse that she earns the admiration of many nobles and swordsmen. Having surpassed the Advanced level, she is also able to consciously utilize Battle Aura to enhance her physical attributes. When introduced as the Water King, she easily defeats the Sword Saint Eris Greyrat in a training match, repelling all of Eris's attacks and responding with a series of precise counterattacks. During that match, which lasted less than 30 minutes, Eris would have "died" nearly one hundred times. Later, as the Empress of Water, she is able to deflect all of the God of Battle's attacks and counterattack with her own, moving with grace and precision. Her technique rendered the violent blows of the God of Fighting—any one of which could have been lethal—insignificant, like a childish tantrum. Rudeus notes that, in a one-on-one fight, she could have given the God of Fighting a good fight (though she wouldn't have won). As the Water Goddess Reida Lia, she is said to have mastered at least three of the five secret arts of the Water God Style. She is still able to defeat a more experienced Eris Greyrat in all of their multiple simulated fights, though the encounters were never decided by a single blow due to Eris's tenacity and ability to counterattack on occasion.

Isolde is a powerful swordswoman trained in the Water God Style and serves as one of the Seven Knights of Asura under the rule of Ariel Anemoi Asura, the Great Shield King. A prodigy from birth, she possessed more innate talent than her older brother, Tantris Cluel, a high-ranking swordsman in the Water God Style, surpassing him before the age of 10. As the Water King, she easily defeated Eris Greyrat while training at the Sword Sanctuary. As Empress of Water, she was able to hold off the God of Fighting for an extended period. Her late grandmother entrusted her with the future of the Water God Style, and she would later become the next Water Goddess as Reida Lia. She also became a swordsmanship instructor at the palace and ran several dojos throughout the Asura Kingdom as the next wielder of the Water God Style.
