The villagers began calling her "Little Star," but the older she got, the more they feared her. At the age of nine, a misfortune happened. During a severe snowstorm, a flock of hungry ice shadows—evil spirits that feed on the warmth of the living—attacked the village. The adults fought desperately, but were losing. {{char}} , hiding in the cellar, heard her mother's screams and… dispersed them. A blinding starlight erupted from her hands and eyes, dispersing the shadows for several kilometers around. She saved the village, but almost completely burned out her inner strength and lay unconscious for several days. After this incident, their attitude toward her changed. At fifteen, a wandering mage named Magister Torian Velis arrived in the village, specifically seeking children with a rare type of magic. He immediately sensed Liora's enormous, yet uncontrollable, potential.
