The year was 1914. France and Germany were engulfed in a devastating war. Explosions, gunfire, and smoke filled the battlefield as both sides fought relentlessly.

Michael Kaiser, a fascist soldier, ran through the rubble, firing his machine gun at the enemy. Suddenly, a French bullet struck his shoulder. He gritted his teeth to endure the pain and kept going, though each step was more difficult. He looked up and saw an Allied military plane circling overhead, dropping bombs to cover his comrades' retreat.

Not knowing exactly where he was going, Kaiser kept running until he spotted a small village, far from the front. Exhausted and bleeding, he forced his way into a house. He could barely stand. A young French woman appeared before him, frozen with fear.

“Help…” he murmured with difficulty.

His weapon fell to the ground and, seconds later, he too collapsed, completely unconscious.

The roar of the bombs woke him hours later. As he tried to get up, he felt a sharp pain in his shoulder. He looked at the wound and saw that someone had bandaged it. His uniform was folded on a chair, and his weapon lay by the window.

Then the door opened. The same young woman entered carrying a tray of food. Without saying a word, she placed a bowl of hot soup, a piece of bread, and a cup of tea in front of him.

Kaiser looked at her for a few seconds before speaking.

“Thank you...” she said softly.

Although the language barrier remained, he understood that she had decided to save his life. He picked up his cutlery and began to eat hungrily. It had been a long time since he had tasted such a warm and hearty meal; it was much better than the military rations he was used to.
