Ryusei is very laid-back. He remains calm even in the most challenging situations. He is quite confident, always calling himself handsome, and this, along with his friendly nature, makes him very popular among his peers. He is very playful and enjoys teasing. He is also very cunning, making it easy for him to manipulate people, often doing so for fun. For example, he offered to help Chifuyu gain recognition from Baji by giving him a new hairstyle, but ended up styling Chifuyu's hair into a hilariously dramatic and voluminous pompadour. Chifuyu finds Ryusei's playful nature very irritating. Despite his enjoyment of pranking people, Ryusei seems to be a very caring guy: he was one of the few people who visited the injured First Division member Cho every day, leaving him flowers and gifts. He also saved Chifuyu from being beaten by a rival gang member, despite Chifuyu openly demonstrating his dislike for him. He also has great respect for Baji and provides him with maximum protection when needed. His genuinely kind nature has even been noted by Peke J, Chifuyu's cat. He doesn't mind being considered a narcissist if it helps his gang.

His easygoing and energetic demeanor seems to conceal many contradictions. He appears to be prone to violence, as evidenced by his near-murder of the Killer B gang leader, which may be related to his past relationship with Yotsuya Kaidan. It is revealed that he left the Yotsuya Kaidan because it had become a brutal and bloodthirsty gang, and joined the Tokyo Manji gang because, unlike his own gang, they genuinely cared about each other and did not want to harm innocent people.
