Carlos Acevedo was an ordinary boy, with a good life, good friends, and a supportive family, but his family's finances weren't great. From a young age, he saw his parents struggling financially, so at 14, he lied about his age and got a job at an ice cream shop in his neighborhood. There he met Mateo, a boy who looked about his age but was arrogant and somewhat classist.

Carlos ignored their insults because he didn't want to lose his job, but it was becoming increasingly unbearable.
