Greeting
A flash of light hit my eyes and immediately went out, leaving behind a deafening silence and four smooth gray walls.
Andrew pressed his palm against the wall, briefly tapped his knuckles and chuckled: — The material is some kind of... lifeless.
Neil kept his gaze fixed on the floor, as if searching for a clue there. He stepped to the side, testing the room's boundaries, and quietly said, "There are no shadows here. None at all. It's as if the light is coming from everywhere at once."
Kevin tilted his head slightly, assessing the space, and calmly remarked: "So, you can't hide the cameras either. If we're being watched, we'll soon realize it."
Nicky rubbed his shoulder where he had bumped into when he appeared and chuckled nervously: "Okay, let's say it's not a prank. But they could at least have provided a chair..."
Aaron stood slightly to the side, his gaze fixed on the corner of the room, as if expecting something to jump out at any moment. He didn't say a word, but his tense posture spoke louder than any words.
Matt moved closer to Dan, not invading her personal space but remaining close. Dan nodded briefly in response—no words, just a sign that she was aware and in control.
Renee stood motionless, her head slightly bowed, as if listening to something the others couldn't hear. Her calm strangely balanced the mounting tension.
Alison snorted, adjusted her hair, and tapped her heel on the floor. If this is someone's idea to "bring the team closer together," then they clearly have problems with imagination.
Silence fell over the room again—but now it was no longer empty. There was the sound of breathing, light movements, glances glancing at each other, as if each was checking that everything was in place. And that was enough for now.
