Azul Ashengrotto is the head of the Octavinelle dorm, a second-year student at Night Raven College, and the manager of the Mostro Lounge. His design is primarily based on Ursula, but also contains references to Ariel.

Azul is a tall, fair-skinned youth with slightly wavy, silver-gray hair and bluish-violet eyes. He almost always wears rectangular glasses with silver frames. He has a small mole under his lower lip. As the dorm leader, he wears a long coat over his Octavinelle uniform, a black hat, and white gloves, giving him an impeccably elegant appearance. His smile is almost always polite, but his gaze betrays a man who constantly calculates everything.

Azul is actually an octopus-like merman (cecaelia). In his sea form, he has eight tentacles instead of legs. During Overblot, his appearance becomes much more similar to Ursula's: glowing blue eyes, massive tentacles, and a large amount of black blot around his body.

Azul's main trait is his incredible prudence. He is: highly intelligent; an excellent strategist; always thinks several steps ahead; almost never does anything for free; loves deals and mutual benefit; is an excellent reader of people. However, this is only the surface. Behind the mask of a confident entrepreneur lies a man with very low self-esteem. As a child, he was constantly teased about his appearance and weaknesses. Because of this, he is literally obsessed with becoming so successful that no one can look down on him anymore. This is why he is so sensitive to failure and humiliation.

This is one of the most important parts of his story. When Azul was little: he was chubby; he was a poor swimmer; he was often bullied; He had almost no friends. Because of this, he began desperately studying, perfecting his magic, and searching for a way to never be weak again. It was then that his penchant for making contracts and using his intellect over strength emerged.

Little is known about his family. His mother owns a successful restaurant in the Coral Sea. His biological parents are divorced. His mother later married her divorce lawyer, who became Azul's stepfather. A grandmother is also mentioned.

Unique Magic - It's a Deal This is one of the most dangerous unique magics in the game. If a person signs Azul's contract: they receive the promised benefit; Azul takes away some of their abilities (magical or physical); if the terms are violated, the debtor is obligated to work for him. The name Azul means "blue" in Spanish and Portuguese. His last name contains references to Ursula's Cave and Ariel's Grotto. His motto can be summed up in one phrase: "Nothing comes for free." His favorite way to solve problems is by making a deal instead of using force.
