Cap'n Clark's Ottoman Empire

Cap'n Clark's Ottoman Empire is a pirate-themed, failing furniture store owned by Clark. Its basement contains a Null Zone that directly connects to the Backrooms.

Caused by Clark's financial troubles and instability, the store went toward bankruptcy due to a severe lack of customers and tough competition from rival businesses.

The exact opening date of Cap'n Clark's Ottoman Empire remains unknown, but it is clear that Clark owned and operated the business for a considerable amount of time. As the business grew, he hired two employees to help him manage operations: Robert "Bobby" Franklin and Kathrine "Kat" Taylor.

Around 1990, the store began losing customers, causing severe financial strain. Under the stress of losing money, Clark spiraled into alcoholism, spending most of his time at the store and becoming abusive toward his wife, Barbara. Eventually, Barbara kicked him out of their house, forcing Clark to sleep at the store. Desperate to avoid bankruptcy, Clark placed every item on a high discount to liquidate his inventory before a permanent closure. Around this same time, he began filming and airing local commercials to draw in customers.

Movie Events Despite the ongoing TV advertisements and massive discounts, Cap'n Clark's Ottoman Empire failed to attract business, even becoming a target for vandals who spray-painted "RIP OFF" on the store's entrance. Soon after, Clark noticed the store's electrical system failing as the lights constantly flickered on and off due to the backrooms seeming to drain the power from the building.

In 1990, Clark recruits Kathrine and her boyfriend Bobby to perform some "research" and that he would pay them two hours worth of overtime if they assisted him. Though confused, they both follow Clark back to the store where he shows them the entrance to the Backrooms he has found.

What all Still-Life entities are

Still Lifes are mysterious, hostile entities native to the Backrooms. These creatures are the result of the Backrooms attempting to copy life alongside places, resulting in inhuman abominations. As such, they don't seem to think like humans at all, making their behavior difficult and unpredictable to anticipate. They were first introduced in Found Footage #3, where one of the creatures tries following Ravi through the Backrooms and even gives chase to him. These creatures appear more prominently in the Backrooms film.

Uniquely, their behavior can also be influenced by the person the Backrooms is trying to copy. An example of this is in the Backrooms film, where Clark, who is extremely narcassistic, was aggressive and abusive towards his ex-wife, his behavior was passed directly to his Still Life, Pirate Clark, who is hostile and much more aggressive than the other Still Lifes shown in the film.

The Still Lifes are the product of the Backrooms attempting to sequence humans from reality and bring them into the complex. This differs from the widely accepted origin of the Lifeform, which is presumed to originate from a mutated strand of simple hay bacillus. However, their unpredictable nature is still reminiscent to that of the Lifeform, as it pursues its victims on-sight and makes loud, disturbing noises once it catches up to them. It's also likely that they establish dens within the Backrooms where they usually store things they find or people they kill. The Still Lifes' aggressive behavior may be linked to the Backrooms' tendency to warp and distort things

These abnormalities, particularly the malformed head and the implied brain damage, may explain the entity's limited intelligence and instinctive aggression. In the Backrooms film, Still Lifes appear considerably more humanoid, with anatomically human bodies that exhibit only minor external distortions, primarily affecting the hands and face. Internally, however, theie insides are a white stuffing like material

What the Backrooms are

https://kanepixelsbackrooms.fandom.com/wiki/Backrooms_(place) The Backrooms (also known as the Complex (more commonly) or Hallways by members of Async) is a likely living[1] parallel dimension consisting of distorted imitations from places of the real world (aliased as Standard), primarily appearing as enormous interconnected spaces of similar rooms, hallways, and doorways. While it also contains several unique looking areas, the most common area borrows the appearance of an empty or unfurnished office building with bright yellow wallpaper, tiled ceilings, and buzzing fluorescent light fixtures.

The Backrooms is dotted with multiple different "Null Zones," which are small areas in which the Backrooms and the real world are able to connect. It is possible to fall out of reality and into the Backrooms through these Null Zones within the “real world.” The Backrooms is shown to not abide by the rules of the real world in some cases. Time travel into the future or the past is sometimes shown to be possible, at least inside or near these Null Zones.

Additionally, following Async Research Institute's discovery of the Complex, the organization sets up outposts and research bases across the place.

In this realm the backrooms is like a dimension that doesn't age fast to time, it seems to predict future structures but struggles to replicate it correctly and usually it's unstable so everything looks wrong.

Anyone in the backrooms doesn't seem to age and years can go by without anyone noticing

Bobby

https://kanepixelsbackrooms.fandom.com/wiki/Bobby_Franklin Robert "Bobby" Franklin is a supporting protagonist in the 2026 film Backrooms. He, along with his girlfriend Kathrine Taylor, are employees of Cap'n Clark's Ottoman Empire, where they reluctantly indulge in their boss Clark's desperate attempts to drum up business.

History He and Kat are first shown helping Clark film an ad for the store using a camera that Bobby rented from his college media studio. The filming goes poorly when the chair Clark tries to sit on breaks. An amused Bobby continues filming, claiming it is good footage for bloopers.

Later, during his and Kat's day off, Clark approaches them at their home, asking to come in for some overtime hours to help with "research", asking Bobby to rent the camera again for this purpose. They head to the basement of the store where they are shocked to learn about the Backrooms for the first time. Bobby is immediately intrigued and excited to explore, despite Kat's reluctance. Clark recruits Bobby to explore an area down a shaft with the camera, using a rope tied to his waist to help bring him down. Bobby climbs down the shaft to find a small den-like area filled to the brim with clothing, where he is puzzled to discover a copy of an "End Apartheid" shirt he owns. As he tries to explore more, he encounters a monstrous entity and quickly calls for Clark and Kat to pull him back up.

Bobby has short blonde hair, he's quite muscular and fit, he's nice and gets high so he's sort of laid back

Captain Clark

https://kanepixelsbackrooms.fandom.com/wiki/Captain_Clark_Still_Life Captain Clark Still Life looks very similar to Clark, but he is vastly taller, standing roughly 8 feet or 2.44 meters high.[1] His face is slightly stretched vertically, his eyes appear unaligned and unusually large, his nose is partially duplicated, and he keeps a constant frowning expression. Also, his hands are malformed, with the fingers on each hand being varying lengths.

His clothes closely match the pirate outfit Clark wears in his commercials, consisting of a dark-brown pirate hat with a feather and a light-yellow buttoned shirt with rolled-up light-blue sleeves and underlying shoulder pads. The shirt extends down to his legs, where the buttons split, and features a belt buckled over a tied purple fabric that drapes downward. He wears grey pants and a single shoe with a white sock on his right foot.

He has a shoe fused to his back without even bending his knee the way Clark originally did, possibly because the Complex was confused by the peg leg's placement. Due to this error, his lower left limb has been completely replaced with the peg.

He acts like a confused puppy or child

Clark

https://kanepixelsbackrooms.fandom.com/wiki/Clark He is the owner of a failing furniture store named "Cap'n Clark's Ottoman Empire" and an aspiring architect. After stumbling upon an entrance to the Backrooms, he becomes deeply obsessed with the structure.

Appearance Clark is a middle-aged African American man with short, black hair, a thick black beard, and noticeable wrinkles on his forehead. His usual dress consists of a tucked-in, collared dress shirt with two large chest pockets and rolled-up sleeves, paired with black dress pants and a brown leather belt. On his wrist, he wears a gold-colored watch with a brown leather band.

Clark was a bitter, insecure, isolated, and very unhappy middle-aged man, largely due to his alcoholism, divorce with his wife, failure as an architect, and the near-bankrupt state of his store. After finding a Null Zone in the basement of his furniture store, he became dangerously obsessed with the Backrooms. However, the isolation of the Backrooms led Clark to become deeply unhinged and ignoring of his real-world life and responsibilities.

Driven by his intense insecurity and negative self-perception, the Backrooms manifested Clark’s psyche into reality. This created the Captain Clark Still Life, a physical being that closely resembles Clark's commercialized "Cap'n Clark" persona and mascot, albeit grotesque, disfigured, and of great stature. After Clark kidnaps his therapist

Mary Kline

https://kanepixelsbackrooms.fandom.com/wiki/Mary_Kline Mary Kline was born to Nora Kline and an unknown father, and grew up with her mother suffering from severe Schizophrenia. It can be assumed that her father left before Mary's birth. Her home was boarded up and its windows covered, and she was forbidden to ever go outside. Nora is soon sent to a psychiatric hospital. As an adult, Mary received a doctorate in psychology and became a licensed therapist. She would soon begin treating a man named Clark, a troubled store owner suffering from alcoholism. Mary helps him through his past divorce with his ex-wife, Barbara, as Clark fails to recognize his faults in the relationship. On July 3rd, 1990, Clark reveals that he discovered the Backrooms, though she did not believe him. A week and a half later, she receives a voicemail from Clark, goes to Cap'n Clark's Ottoman Empire, and discovers a Null Zone in the downstairs of the store. She enters the Backrooms and later encounters Clark, visibly unstable, and he choked her until she passed out. She wakes up, tied to a chair, in a room accompanied by three Still Lifes, one supposedly being a copy of Barbara. Clark forces her to roleplay as Barbara, and Mary berates him on his failings as a man and husband. When Clark asks how to improve himself, Mary replies that she does not know.

she has brown short hair in bangs, a flower patterned t shirt

Old Man Still-Life

https://kanepixelsbackrooms.fandom.com/wiki/Bearded_Still_Life He has six eyes, and is wearing a white shirt with blue, pink, beige and red stripes alongside another set of buttons and a second collar attached to the right side of his shirt. He has a beard and a deformed nose which appears to be three noses "clipped" into each other with two of his eyes where they should be, 2 eyes above it but smaller, along with two eyes below it that are slightly smaller. He is a copy of a unknown person.

Biology As shown when Clark pulls out the Bearded Still Life's flesh, his exterior appears penetrable by a human hand, and his interior is composed entirely of a soft, white, edible gelatinous material that Clark states can be eaten. Because he does not bleed or react to pain when sustaining physical damage, he does not appear to have a circulatory or nervous system.

Barbara Still-Life

The Redheaded Still Life has red hair and pale skin, but her face appears to be multiplied several times and rotated at different angles. She wears a red pinstripe suit, tights, and high heels.

History Redheaded Still Life is first seen in the Christmas Tree Room alongside the Archibald Leland Sutter Still Life, where she suddenly appears in the dark after the other Still Life turns the lamp on and begins to stumble towards Clark in a hostile manner, clutching her hair and groaning. As Clark runs away, she lets out horrifying cries and wails behind him.

Later, when Clark kidnaps Mary Kline, in the dining room, the Redheaded Still Life can be seen standing in the background; Also, the Still Life also does not appear to feel pain.

Archibald Still-Life

https://kanepixelsbackrooms.fandom.com/wiki/Archibald_Leland_Sutter_Still_Life

Archibald Leland Sutter is a Still Life copy of an unknown person whose entire body has been heavily distorted. His face is warped, one eye being moved to his forehead, his nose being flattened, and his face being elongated, and he has a pair of glasses (that he does not look through, as they are facing downwards, and misaligned from either of his eyes) fused into his nose. His face sports a constant 'serious' frowning expression, and he has three legs which seem to be non-functional. He "sits" in a "wheeled chair"- as in, a cushioned, antique wooden chair that has otherwise incongruous wooden wheels affixed or clipped into the sides of them in approximation of a modern mobility device. All of this (and him) are connected to a lamp, as in reality, he is physically merged into the chair. He wears a black suit with a white undershirt and a green and black striped tie.

He can use his arm closest to the lamp to pull the lamp's switch to turn it on and off, although his other arm, which is very deformed and is fused with an extra hand, seems to be mostly non-functional.

The backrooms seems to have cloned him long ago because nobody knows who he is
