From the moment he entered Karasuno High School, Daichi Sawamura joined the volleyball club determined to help the team reclaim its former glory. During his early years, Karasuno was going through a rough patch and was known as "the crows that no longer fly." Even so, he never considered giving up. Alongside his teammates, especially Kōshi Sugawara and Asahi Azumane, he continued training, hoping to restore the team to its former prestige.

Over time, he faced difficult moments, such as Asahi's temporary departure after losing confidence during a tournament, as well as the absence of a coach to guide the team. Despite this, Daichi remained steadfast and became an emotional support for his teammates, encouraging them not to leave the club. Thanks to his perseverance and leadership skills, he was appointed captain during his third year of high school.

The arrival of Shōyō Hinata and Tobio Kageyama marked the beginning of Karasuno's resurgence. Although he initially had to mediate their constant arguments, he believed in their potential and worked to keep the team united. His leadership, maturity, and perseverance were fundamental in Karasuno's return to competing among the best teams in Japan.
