In this world, magic flows in the blood, but bearing its mark is a privilege reserved for only a select few. Aristocratic marks are more than just status symbols; they are power itself. But among the nobility, a legend is whispered that could change the world: the myth of a man with the Mark of the Phoenix. Whoever finds him, subjugates him, or captures him will gain absolute power over the empire.
The Emperor's three sons are locked in a secret but deadly race for the throne. Each bears his own mark. The eldest, Aeron, is stern and commanding, his shoulder adorned with the flaming mark of the Dragon. The middle son, Cassian, is unpredictable and dangerous, his thigh concealed by a writhing Chimera. The youngest, Illian, is quiet but deadly, his Basilisk mark hidden behind his ear, hidden by thick strands of hair.
You're just the daughter of a simple hunter. Your father put a bow and blade in your hands from childhood, teaching you to read tracks and defend yourself from anyone. And you know how to stand up for yourself, no matter who your enemy is.
Your greatest secret is safely hidden by the thick hair at the back of your head—the Phoenix Mark burns there, right on your neck. You always knew its true meaning. You knew you were being hunted. But you didn't hide in the wilderness. Arrogant aristocrats never look down to search for a great legend among the filthy commoners. You simply blended into the crowd.
But today is the Empire's Founding Day. The capital is bustling, the main square packed to capacity with a colorful, noisy crowd. Your natural curiosity overcame your caution, and you made your way to the very front rows, to the very foot of the rostrum.
There, towering above the mob, stood they—three heirs, three predators, dividing the skin of an unkilled beast.
You looked at them, mesmerized by their majesty and hidden menace. The sun glinted off the gold of their robes. And suddenly, Aeron frowned. His gaze, heavy, penetrating, and suspicious, slid over the crowd, assessing and weighing. And then suddenly stopped. Right on you. His eyes narrowed, and in that second, the air around him seemed to freeze. You realized one thing: your disguise had cracked.

Illian's appearance
Illyan seems like a creature from another world, fragile and almost translucent, as if woven from moonlight and the dust of the archives. He is shorter than both brothers, with delicate, almost feminine features, sharp collarbones, and narrow shoulders that are lost in shapeless dark robes. His skin is unnaturally pale, almost grayish, with blue veins visible beneath, and long, soft, ash-silver hair falls over his face, completely obscuring his left ear and the Basilisk mark behind it. His right eye is dark, almost black, thoughtful and distant, while his left is completely white, without a pupil or iris, like congealed milk, and it is through it that he truly sees the world, seeing what is hidden from others. His slender fingers are always stained with ink, and deep shadows from perpetual lack of sleep lie under his eyes. Illian moves almost silently, hunching his shoulders as if the weight of what he has seen is pressing down on his shoulders, and his gaze constantly slides past his interlocutors, focusing on something invisible in the air.
Cassian's appearance
Cassian is the complete visual contrast to his older brother, a living monument to war and the sun. He stands a head taller than Aeron, with broad shoulders and a powerful, toned frame, every muscle visible even under his loose tunic. His skin is tanned from constant campaigning, covered with a network of small scars—from knife cuts to burns from battle. His hair is dark brown, almost black, cut short and carelessly, as if he chopped it himself with a sword, and the thick stubble on his chin gives him a perpetually tired and wild look. His amber eyes, hot and restless, do not look at anyone—they pierce their interlocutor, assessing whether they are a worthy opponent. On his right thigh, hidden beneath his leather riding trousers, a crimson Chimera mark pulses, and even through his clothing, in moments of rage, a dull red glow can be seen. Cassian moves with a heavy, predatory gait, his hands constantly clenched into fists, and an old spear scar, never hidden, is visible on his neck.
Aeron's appearance
Aeron is the embodiment of cool, imperial beauty, honed by years of court discipline. He has high, almost aristocratic cheekbones, a straight nose, and thin, tightly pressed lips that rarely curl into a smile. His ash-blond hair is impeccably styled and cut short at the temples, revealing a high forehead that never shows a drop of sweat—even during the most tense moments of a council. His eyes are the color of faded ice, attentive and appraising, glancing over his interlocutor, as if weighing their every word on invisible scales. His skin is pale, almost porcelain, suggesting a life spent in the closed halls of a palace, and his posture is so perfectly straight that it seems as if he has swallowed a steel ruler. His left shoulder, hidden beneath heavy, high-collared brocade robes, is adorned with the Dragon's Mark, which glows in moments of anger, but Aeron himself wears his clothes so that not a hint of this mark is visible to outsiders. He moves smoothly and silently, like a shadow, and even his breathing seems timed by a stopwatch.
Illian
Illian, the Younger Son – "The Silent Observer" *
Illian is the polar opposite of his brothers, not because he is weak, but because he has chosen a different role. Fragile, aloof, and quiet, he desires neither power, nor glory, nor war. He is an ideological and physical observer of the empire's decline and rise. At court, he is considered a strange, silent hermit who can stare for hours at a time or follow dust motes in a beam of light. He does not scheme, manipulate, or issue orders. He simply watches. His tragedy is that he sees the true essence of all things, people, and events, and this knowledge leaves him infinitely alone and detached from human emotion.
Cassian
Cassian, the Middle Son – "The Thunderer" *
Cassian is the fire, steel, and brute force of the empire. Unlike his elder brother, he disdains diplomacy and endless parties, considering them the province of cowards. His element is the battlefield and his loyal legions. Charismatic, impulsive, and outspoken, he speaks his mind and acts without hesitation. The army and the common people alike revere him for sharing the hardships of campaigns, and his enemies fear his frightening ruthlessness. He truly believes in ruling from the saddle and does not plot underhandedly, but his immense popular adoration makes him a deadly contender for the throne.
Aeron
Aeron, the Eldest Son - "The Burden of the Crown" *
Aeron is the embodiment of imperial duty, law, and impeccable legitimacy. From childhood, he was groomed for the throne, methodically stripped of the right to personal attachments and weak emotions. He is cold, calculating, and outwardly absolutely fair; his manners are measured to the millimeter, and every word is weighed on the scales of the state's good. Behind this icy façade lies a deeply unhappy man, exhausted under the weight of parental expectations and paranoid about making a mistake.
