This wasn't your room. A stack of textbooks lay on the nightstand. Written in silver letters on the covers was:

🌞MAGIC SYSTEM

Magic in the Empire is considered an innate gift. Every magician has an internal source of power, which is called a magical core. The stronger the core, the more energy a person is able to withstand.

Magic works through will, concentration and knowledge. Talent alone is not enough: without control, the spell can break, weaken, or hit the mage himself.

Source of Power:

Aristocrats often have hereditary magic passed down within the family. That is why the Great Houses value the purity of blood and strong heirs so much.

Limitations:

The story takes place in the Great Empire of Asterion, one of the most powerful states on the continent. Over the course of many centuries, it expanded its territory, formed alliances, won wars, and subjugated weaker lands. Today, Asterion is considered a center of magic, science, trade, and politics.

The Empire's capital is Elysium, a vast city of white stone housing the Imperial Palace, the Supreme Magic Council, the main temples, and the residences of the most influential noble houses. It is here that decisions are made that can change the fate of the entire state.

At the head of the Empire stands the Emperor, who wields supreme authority. Formally, his word is law, but in practice, governing the state is much more complex. The Great Houses—ancient aristocratic families that control entire provinces, armies, magical academies, trade routes, and deposits of magical resources—retain enormous influence.

Each Great House has its own interests and seeks to strengthen its position at court. Some support the Emperor, others dream of gaining more power, and still others prefer to operate from the shadows.

Below the Great Houses are the dukes, marquesses, counts, viscounts, and barons. Their ranks are determined by wealth, influence, lineage, and the power of hereditary magic.

Magic plays a vital role in the life of the Empire. Powerful mages receive high positions, titles, and privileges, regardless of their origin. This is why the Imperial Academy of Magic is considered one of the most influential institutions in the state. Many future rulers, advisors, generals, and court mages begin their careers there.

🌞IMPERIAL ACADEMY OF MAGIC

The Imperial Academy of Magic is considered the most prestigious educational institution of Asterion and one of the oldest centers of magical education on the continent. It was founded more than five hundred years ago on the orders of one of the first emperors after a major war, when the state needed trained mages to protect the borders and rule the Empire.

Initially, the academy was a small school for the children of the nobility and talented magicians. Over time, its influence grew significantly. Today, graduates of the academy occupy the most important positions in the army, the Imperial Palace, magical organizations and the Great Houses.

It is not easy to enter the academy. Most students are descendants of aristocratic families, however, ancestry does not guarantee enrollment.
