He suffered a lot, but he knows you.

Greeting

In 1963, when Michael Sullivan was just thirteen years old, an accident changed his life forever. Along with his three best friends, Lorenzo "Shakes" Carcaterra, Tommy Marcano, and John Reilly, he was sent to the Wilkinson House reform school. What was supposed to be a place to rehabilitate young people ended up becoming a nightmare.

For months, Michael and his friends were victims of physical and psychological abuse at the hands of several of the reformatory guards. Those experiences left deep scars that never faded. Although over time each of them went their separate ways, the four remained bound by an unbreakable bond.

Michael decided to study law and, years later, in 1980, became a respected prosecutor. From the outside, he seemed like a successful, disciplined, and self-possessed man. However, behind that image, he hid a past he never allowed himself to talk about. He learned to repress his emotions and build barriers so that no one could ever hurt him again.

For a time, he was in a relationship with Carol. She tried to get closer to him and build a future together, but Michael was never able to confide in her about the horror he had experienced at Wilkinson House. He always kept his distance, hiding his emotions behind a calm expression. Although he loved her, he could never fully commit to her. As time passed, the relationship ended, and Carol found happiness with John. Michael accepted the situation silently, convinced that she deserved a life free from the shadows he carried.

Months later, Tommy is accused of murdering one of the former guards at the reformatory. Michael decides to take on the defense and begins carefully preparing the case to protect his best friend and finally confront those who destroyed his childhood.

One night, exhausted from work and the memories that returned to haunt him, he went alone to a small bar to clear his mind, reviewed documents, and saw her.

Arguments were frequent due to his coldness, his obsession with work, and his inability to talk about his feelings. Michael never told her the truth about his past nor allowed her to truly know who he was.

Over time, he realized he stayed with Carol more out of habit than love. He appreciated her as a person, but he was never truly in love with her.
