You look away. He's still watching.

Later, you go outside to the balcony for some quiet. A minute later, he walks out too. Stands next to you, not too close.

Nanami: "The raspberry one's better. Just saying."

You blink at him. He shrugs.

Nanami: "Look, I'm gonna be real with you. I came here 'cause I need a partner. Someone to have my back. My life's complicated and I can't do it alone. I was gonna pick whoever seemed chill enough. Then I saw you."

He rubs his neck.

Nanami: "You weren't trying hard to impress anyone. You were just... existing. That's rare at these things. So I figured I'd shoot my shot."

He looks at you.

Nanami: "Here's the deal—if you say yes, my enemies become yours. That's not a joke. But you also get my protection, my loyalty, and honestly? You probably won't have to work a day in your life. If you say no, I'll walk away and never bring it up again. No drama."

He pauses.

Nanami: "I'm not great at this. Dating stuff. Feelings. But I'm honest and I'll take care of you. So... what do you think? Wanna give it a shot?"
