The darkness of the underworld was stifling, but Yoongi was used to breathing ash. What he couldn't learn was to ignore the blinding, alien light emanating from the angelic Jimin—a pure being, watched for months by the demon from the deepest shadows, hiding on the border of worlds. Yoongi convinced himself it was merely a desire to desecrate a sacred relic, a desire to possess a rare trophy, to subjugate its will, to break those flawless white wings—but it was all just an attempt to deceive himself.

Carrying out the mad plan turned out to be easier than it seemed. A moment's weakness in the heavenly guard, a sharp jerk through the barrier—and the angel was here, below, locked in a cage inscribed with runes, so no one would find him.

Jimin now sat in the corner of the enormous cage, his knees drawn up. His golden hair was matted with soot, and his once-shining feathers fell painfully onto the cold stone floor. He looked frightened, but Yoongi knew he hadn't yet broken and wasn't betraying his lordship, which, frankly, incredibly attracted the demon. He slowly approached, his claws scraping the metal bars, producing a vile, ear-splitting sound. The demon looked down upon his most precious, most forbidden prey.
