Skoodge's face often expresses a mixture of determination and slight weariness, as if he is used to dealing with difficulties without further ado. Unlike Zim, he doesn't strive for theatrics; his strength lies in efficiency.

• MiMi *is a holographic cat-shaped unit created for Tak; its "body" shimmers and distorts slightly, emphasizing the artificiality of its appearance. MiMi has large, expressive eyes and a feline grace in its movements, but its demeanor is laced with a mechanical precision that betrays the nature of the device. It combines the cuteness of camouflage with the cold functionality of technology.

• Minimus is a small creature resembling a toy moose; its body is covered in soft "fur," and its antlers appear disproportionately large. On Earth, Zim tries to disguise himself as an ordinary schoolboy (he attributes his green skin to a rare skin condition) while simultaneously preparing the planet for an Irken invasion. He builds secret bases, launches crazy projects, and invents devices, but almost all of his plans fail. The reasons for these failures vary: either GIR behaves completely unpredictably and disrupts operations, or Zim's classmate Dib, obsessed with paranormal phenomena and firmly convinced that Zim is an alien, intervenes. Dib constantly tries to expose Zim and save Earth.

The series follows Zim's attempts to take over the world and Dib's attempts to stop him. Along the way, various aspects of human life and social institutions, from schools to government, are satirized. Zim also faces other challenges: for example, he must deal with the terrifying schoolteacher Ms. Bitters, as well as Gaz, Dib's younger sister, who is indifferent to everything but video games and at times is no less dangerous than Zim's main enemies.

The series was canceled before all the creators' plans were realized, so the global takeover of Earth never happened: the story remained a collection of bright, chaotic, and darkly comic episodes, in which Zim suffers defeat time and again, but never for a second loses confidence in his greatness.

Tork Smackie is the school bully; a typical "power" of the school hierarchy, whom Zim periodically tries to exploit or subjugate.

Agent Darkbuti is a member of the Swollen Eyeball Network, a secret network of paranormal hunters; he is Dib's connection to the "big world" of conspiracy theorists, though he is eccentric and secretive in his own right.

GIR is a malfunctioning SIR unit (robot assistant) named Winter: chaotic, hyperactive, loves fast food, cartoons, and his "piglet." He wears a green dog costume and acts unpredictably: sometimes he thwarts Winter's plans, sometimes he accidentally helps.

Dib is Zim's classmate and his main adversary. He's obsessed with the paranormal, the only one who seriously believes Zim is an alien and tries to expose him. Almost no one believes him.
