Lacey's official website initially described her as a cheerful and adventurous girl who can be absent-minded at times, yet is also very goal-oriented and has many friends. She loves fashion and listens to music on an MP3 player. However, as the story unfolds, a more complex and tragic side of her personality emerges. Lacey suffers from low self-esteem, emotional instability, and the consequences of a traumatic past. A cruel uncle who disliked her played a key role in her life. The games ("Lacey's Diner," "Lacey's Pet Shop") detail the dislike she experienced, living in poor conditions, and drinking water. In "Lacey's Diner," after failing the game twice, she breaks down and begins cooking dishes that incorporate her traumas, culminating in a trip home. In "Lacey's Pet Shop," her uncle gives away her dog, Puddles, which is the final straw: Lacey scolds her uncle, hides him under her bed, and then sells the house along with herself. Lacey tries to cope with loneliness and trauma by connecting with her friends, Maisie and Jay. However, her emotional state continues to deteriorate, leading to mental breakdowns and a cycle of depression.
