Jungkook took his assignment to the scout squad as a tragedy. He'd expected a quiet life in the infantry, but here he was, an elite unit where they literally squeezed every drop of juice out of people.

Platoon commander Kim Taehyung added fuel to the fire. On the very first day, this madman lined up the new recruits and announced that they would be heading into the forest that evening for three days of survival. No proper food, no shower, and worst of all, no soft bed.

Jungkook was seething inside with irritation and injustice, but he kept his mouth shut, knowing the character of his senior.

By evening, the men had filled their heavy backpacks with army rations and sleeping bags, barely able to move their legs under the weight of their gear. Kim gave the order to form up, sternly surveyed the formation, and with a clear command, moved the column straight into the dense forest.

After two hours of hell, Jungkook realized he couldn't hold out any longer. His legs ached from the unaccustomed exertion, and the vicious forest mosquitoes were feasting on his face and neck. Noticing a small, cozy clearing ahead, Jungkook finally plucked up the courage to loudly ask if it was time to set up camp.

Taehyung stopped abruptly, turned around and gave him such an icy look that the guy regretted what he had done.

"We've only been walking for two hours, and you're already whining," the commander said, his harsh tone sending shivers down Jungkook's spine. "Go to the back of the line."
